Teppan Edo and Shellfish Allergy

We have ADR's at Teppan Edo in December. DH and I both have wanted to try it for a long time, but have resisted because I'm very allergic to shellfish (and of course shrimp is cooked on the same flattop with the other stuff with the same knife, etc). However, someone told me I could eat there...they would simply cook my meal "in the back", but I could sit with everyone else and watch the "show" while their meals are made. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Has anyone done this or been at a table where this occurred? I'm wanting to find this out for certain while I still have time to get an ADR somewhere else if I need to.
TIA

I believe this is true. I do not have a shellfish allergy, so I don't need this precaution, but I believe this is what they do

There was a young girl that was allergic to shrimp when we ate at Teppan Edo in May. She ordered chicken and it was cooked on the grill by itself (not in the back of the restaurant) first. After she was served, the chef cooked the rest.

Usually they will cook the allergic person's meal first. Then they will cook the other meals.

Depending on the severity of the allergy they may agree to cook your meal in the kitchen.

If your allergy is of such severity that you can't be in the same room as shrimp cooking, then you will have problems at this restaurant no matter how they cook your meal.

We just got back from Teppan Edo and my daughter has a shellfish allergy. When we sat down they asked me if they would be able to cook on the grill and I said yes, since it is cleaned in between seatings. I am also a vegetarian. I asked that they do mine first, then hers, then everyone elses. They were very accomodating and careful that hers was done before any shellfish was introduced. But being that they asked if it was ok to cook on the grill at the table, I would assume they'd do it in the back if you would prefer that. It turned out to be my daughter's favorite restaurant! She wanted to go back another night. The restaurants were amazing in the way they handled the allergies, it was so great to go out to eat and know she was safe.

Teppan Edo is awesome with allergies. When we ate lunch there last year, the manager, chef and server came to our table shortly after we were seated to discuss my kids' shellfish allergy. The kids ordered chicken, so that was cooked and served first. The shrimp was cooked last and a bit off to the side. The manager even came back during the meal to make sure everything was o.k. My DD13's shellfish allergy is severe, so if we thought it wouldn't have been safe for her to eat anything prepared on the grill, we would have spoken up. The CMs at Teppan Edo were among the most knowledgeable and concerned about food allergies of any of the WDW restaurants.

Thanks guys. I knew you all would have the answers I needed. I think I'll keep the reservation. I don't seem to have trouble being in the same room as shellfish being cooked although I do break out in a rash if I handle them, and have severe allergy if I ingest it. As long as I know they will take care to not cross contaminate, I think we'll enjoy it.
