Tent sites

This is probably a silly question but are there sites with tents already on them that we can book, or do we need to bring our own tent. We are travelling from Australia so we are limited on what we can bring and would need to buy most of it there.

Think I've just worked this out for myself. I've seen some by searching on here. They look a bit small for 4 of us though. It might be worth buying from Walmart for the price.

It would be cheaper to buy from Wal-Mart and have it shipped free. If you can't take it home I am sure someone would be happy to have a free/super cheap new tent. I have seen tent, chairs and canopy combos cheap on their website.

Sorry, lots of questions. Just looking at Walmart.com now and trying to compose a list of what we would need. Any suggestions of what I should add to the list without going overboard.

Tent
Beds
Outdoor Extension Cord (length?)
Cooler
Hammer to hammer in tent pegs.

We'll bring our own pillows and sheets from home as we will use the pillows on the plane.

Thanks for the list. That's really helpful.

It's going to be June/July. We are either looking at 23 June-2 July or 2 July - 11 July.

For the amount the necessary gear would cost you, I suggest getting bids on renting a small camper or pop-up. There are businesses that rent campers and your price includes set up.

Thanks Pridemom. That's a great idea. I've just looked at one company and for 10 nights are looking at about $760USD which includes delivery, setup and pickup. It includes linen, towels and eating utensils and sleeps 5. We'd get out of it a bit cheaper with a tent but would be much more comfortable in this.

Also it's gonna be hot. You would need fans at the very least. I think a rental would be the way to go. If it was cooler weather I'd say differently.

Plus, if you were to go with a rental camper it would most likely have air conditioning, a really big benefit in the Florida heat and humidity. If you do decide to go with a tent, I would suggest adding a fan to your list. And a power strip so you can plug multiple items in at once.

I believe Disney rents tents and they set them up for you on the site. You can also rent cots for in the tent. I couldn't find anything on their website (no surprise there) so I'm not sure if they still do it but I know they did it somewhat recently ~6 months. You might want to check this out because the tents they rent are very nice and a great size also. Here's a picture of one of the rentals

Greenberg RV rentals show they have small travel trailers for rent starting at $359 a week. This seems to be very reasonable. Yes, they are small but you would have AC and a dry place to sleep. http://www.greenbergrvflorida.com/trailer-rental/ They come and setup everything up for you so it's very easy.

Thanks everyone. After much discussion at home I think we are going to go with Greenberg. They have one for $379 per week, plus $69 for additional days that sleeps 5 (there are 4 of us). Seems great value. I know by the time we rent that and pay the site fee we could stay in a moderate hotel but it just wouldn't be the same experience. We're all really excited about staying at Fort Wilderness. We've just got to nail down our dates yet. We are going on a cruise also so we have to make a decision on which week we are doing which is proving difficult.
Now to decide what site to book. I've only tent camped before. Do we need the full hookup up site to be able to use water etc in the van? What loops are these in. Thinking we would prefer to be closer to the pool.

I thought Greenberg was no longer renting after the first of the year. I tried to book with them and they wouldn't book me, said they weren't booking yet past January. I then read here they would no longer be at the Fort in 2017. Maybe you'll have better luck with them. But I couldn't only get short snippy replies to my requests for info.

The full hook ups are 1600 1700 1800 1900. Book soon as The Fort fills up fast. Also, around July 4th holiday is probably already full.

All still available at this stage. We will confirm our dates in the next day or so. Definitely don't want to miss out now we've made the decision.

I think I might contact Greenberg now though just to make sure they are still renting.
