Ok, I could use some advice here from all you tent campers. We are planning our very first trip to Disney for November 3-10. It's me, my dh, and our 6 year old ds.

Is this a bad weather time of year to try and tent camp? We love camping around home but we only do it in the summer and we have never camped for more than 3 days. This will be our first extended camping trip.

I'm so worried about long periods of rain or temps so cold in the evenings that you don't feel comfortable sitting around the campsite. I can handle sleeping in chilly weather though.

Anyone ever camp this time of year? We can be flexible and change the dates by up to a month if that makes much of a weather difference.

thanks.

Our family has camped at Fort Wilderness quite a few times. First or second week in December and first week in January. Even though we drive an RV down, my DH and I take along a tent and sleep in it. (There are usually about 10 of us, so the tent gives us a little privacy) Some years the weather has been very comfortable but then others it has been a little bit more than nippy! One thing to remember is to pack for both warm and cold if you go around this time of year. You just never know how it will be. Since you are going earlier in November than we do, the weather may be a little warmer than Dec though. Have a great time!:o

We were there last November 2nd thru 12th and the weather was beautiful! Evenings we brought a sweatshirt or sweater with us. During the day we all wore shorts and t-shirts.

The year before we were there the last week of October and the weather was the same except one day of rain when a tropical storm came thru. It was no big deal because it wasn't cold, just a bit rainy.

Have fun!!:p

Thanks for the quick replies!

When it does rain what do you do in Disney? This may sound like a crazy question but none of have ever been. Where do you go to spend a rainy day?

Welovemickey, You mentioned a rainy day last October. How did your family spend that day?

Thank You.

We go the first few weeks of December EVERY year and there is no place more fun than MGM in the rain.
:D

We go caming ever year last wk in Oct and 1st Week in Nov weather has been great you should have no problem.

We have tent camped in November before and will be doing it again this year. Just make sure you have cold and warm weather clothes because you never know what you may get. Sure it can rain then. We never spend a day in the tent when it is raining of course. Go to one of the parks and see the shows. Ride, Ellen's Energy Adveture at Epcot that is a long show and it is all inside. Go into the land pavilion at Epcot too. There is alot to go there as well. Go on the Land ride, see food rocks and the circle of life movie and grab a snack. There are a bunch of places to go. Never spend a day not going to the parks because of rain. There is a ton of inside stuff to do.

When it rains at WDW, 99% of the attractions can remain open, so just toss on some type of rain gear (my recomendation is a rain suit) and keep going!!!!

As far as being uncomfortable in your campsite, I would recommend a tarp or screen house of some type, so you aren't trapped in your tent.
