Tent Camping -- What do you leave at your site while away?

Hello --

Forgive me if this question has been answered elsewhere! If so, if you could point me to the answer, I would appreciate it.

I just planned an impromptu visit to Fort Wilderness next week and will be tent camping (two nights). It's my first time there. I'm not planning to go to the parks, but will be out and about exploring during the day. What do people do -- leave their tent up? Leave sleeping pad/bag/etc. inside it? Leave bath towel on a line? I have a vehicle and would lock most things in the car and of course, leave no valuables either in the car or tent while I am away.

I imagine it is rather safe there, but I just don't know what the conventional wisdom is. Thanks!

Liz

We have a popup that doesn't lock so similar to your situation. We lock tablets, phones, any my purse in the car. Everything else stays where it goes - inside the popup or on the site including bikes, food, chairs, etc. There is always a risk but not enough of one that I'm going to go out of my way when I leave the site. We do the same thing at all the Florida State Parks we've been at and never had a problem.

Thanks! That has been my experience at campgrounds elsewhere. Good to know. Appreciate it.

We've tent camped at the Fort several times in years gone by, and we also always locked valuables in the car, just like we would do camping anywhere else.
