Tension on St. Martin

A sewage system and a place to dispose your garbage sound like something worthy to protest for.

I see this warning is about the French side of the island. Cruise ships dock on the Dutch side of the island so you should be safe unless you take a tour that goes to the French side.

We were just at St Martin last week on the Allure of the Seas. We only hit the small shopping area at the dock and didn't see any protesting there.

As noted, this has been a problem since Hurricane Irma. We were talking with some locals last time we were there, and they told us that the Dutch government invested far more in reconstruction and recovery than the French government did. Very sad for the residents of the French side of the island, and unfortunate that visitors are being discouraged, as there are some beautiful sites and great snorkeling on the French side of the island.
