Football AND Figure Skating??? I thought they were mutually exclusive! Oh, yeah....that's just for me! Or maybe it's just that FOOTBALL fans can't be figure skating fans. Or maybe just MALE football fans can't. I dunno, but you've REALLY confused me and tilted my universe!!

Football, Figure Skating and don't forget the Lady Vols basketball team! If you grow up in Knoxville, TN you had better be a football fan! That is the center of the universe there!

By the way Dan... A Vol is short of Volunteer the mascot of UT so named because we sent a lot of Volunteers to the war in Texas with Mexico (the name escapes me right now!) I have no idea what Kolumbar was trying to say, but after reading it several times it has occured to me that maybe the huskie they are referring to is the University of Conn. (Where they play some great Basketball, but seem to hide from bright colors in the fall!)

While I do love UT Vols football, I am an absolute diehard Lady Vols nut! Pat Summitt is just the most awesome coach ever!

I may have gone to college at UGA, but I don't bleed red & black. I bleed orange. I have been a UT fan since I lived in western TN as a small child. Mickey

I was at the UT-Fresno State Football game and Coach Summitt walked by. It was a celebrity moment. The crowd (which was PACKED into the asiles to get out of the heat) kept whispering her name as she strode by. I felt like I was in the presence of royalty. Now I have NO idea why Pat was down in Section I instead of up in the fancy boxes.

She is a remarkable woman and a great role model for her team and other young girls.

Not to pour salt in the wounds from a bad weekend for Vol fans, but I just wanted to point out how gracious and hospitable the fans were at the game this weekend, despite the score. It was almost like a home game the way the fans treated us before and after the game. After being whipped up on for 9 years in a row, we developed a certain loathing for Tennessee that carried over from the team to the players, to the school and to the fans, but it really was undeserved. I was very impressed with the beautiful campus and the friendly people. I hope next year UGA is as hospitable to Tennessee’s fans as Tennessee was to us (though I must admit, I hope our football team isn't quite a gracious a host as the Vols were Saturday night!)
