How does getting ashore work? Someone in another thread mentioned getting a ticket, how does that work, when is the earliest you can get tickets? What about getting back on board at the end of the day?

Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin

Tendering to shore is free. The tender tickets are just a reservation system DCL uses to avoid all 2500 passengers being lined up in the lobby waiting for the first tender. Because there isn't such a rush on the trip back to the boat, an ticketing system isn't needed.

When can we get these tickets? We've rented a car in GC and would like to get off ASAP to have as much time away from Georgetown before bringing the car back.

Instructions are given on-board and in navigator's I believe. I don't think there is a way to get them ahead-of-time.

And if you're on a morning excursion, your excursion ticket is your tender ticke (the whole group will share a tender).

The night before you arrive in GC your navigator will list the time/place that tendering tickets are available in the morning. If you have rented a car and want to be one of the first off the ship I would suggest arriving approximately 15 minutes earlier than the time stated. Then you should be assured of getting on the first tender and able to start your day and make the most of it.

They give you your ticket, line you up in order of your tickets, when it is time, you follow in line together to the tender area, you get in the little boat and ride over to GC dock. All very easy. Quick and painless.

After a certain time in the morning tender tickets are no longer needed, they just use them first thing so there is no confusion about who got where first and everyone gets off the ship in an orderly fashion.

GC is lots of fun. Enjoy!

I have a general tendering question...what current DCL ports require use of tenders?

Just curious :cool1:

Thanks!

Thanks webray, you answered it all! Can't wait (unfortunately will have to, we don't sail until Dec.!).

Where is Disney Cruise Line on the spectrum of allowing independent passengers (those with non-Disney excursions) get on early tenders? On one of our RCCL cruises there was great frustration as we had to watch ALL those with RCCL excursions get priority to tender first (i.e. only some had early start times).

I am cruising at the end of October....will I be tendered into St Thomas???

Thanks
