Tempur Pedic Beds

i'm thinking about getting one and i'm trying to find out if there worth it or not, i'm leaning towards either a cloud or the new weightless, anyone have one or anyone wanna share there thoughts on them.

I can only say that we purchased a sleep number bed in June and so far its going the trick. My husband and I like completely different sleeping surfaces. I am waking up with less muscles achjes and fewer stiff necks.

I have to laugh at this because the only reason that we bought the sleep number bed was because my husband wanted it and he had been complaining about our bed for years. I would never normally spend that much money on a bed and it really bothered me for about a month. It was actually less than 3 grand (thank goodness), but now that I see how different his and my settings are, I guess its worth it. As long as it lasts!

We just bought one because my husband is in construction and his body takes a beating so it was recommended to us. I am still getting used to it - it is a totally different feel from a pillow top or regular mattress. I was told it could take up to a month to make the adjustment then I will never go back -I'll keep you posted ...

We went mattress shopping a while ago (and still haven't bought a new one ) but the Tempurpedic (or any memory foam) wouldn't work for me. I move around way too much and whenever I laid on one, I felt like I was creating a hole I had to flail my way out of. Not the way I want to spend my night.

They are also very warm. I was getting warm just laying on one after 10 mins or so.

So I know we've at least ruled out one bed.

DH and I tried one out at a store for a while. We came to the conclusion that it would not be right for us. It was very difficult to change positions once you were in it for a bit. We are both edge sleepers and the edges are not reinforced enough...so you felt like you were falling off if you lay on the edge.

Be really sure before you buy it that it's right for you. Spend a lot of time in one at the store.

Now, Sleep Number we did like...but the expensive model. We couldn't justify the price. Bought a nice bedding set from Sears in the end.

We didn't like the Tempur Pedic bed at all. The bed seemed to retain all my body heat, making me uncomfortably warm. The foam type material isn't the kind of support I like underneath me. And as for intimacy with your spouse - forget it. The material makes that very difficult, leverage-wise, and that alone is enough reason to say forget about it!

Try a simmons comforpedic. There are two common complaints about the tempur, one being heat and I can't remember what the other one was... but anyway that mattress is supposed to have fixed both of them. We have one and several of our friends have them as well, we are all happy.

Did you try the #8 level bed? That one has so much cushioning over the bed you couldn't really tell you were on an air mattress anymore. Each of the other two levels we tried did feel like our Aerobed for camping. I don't recall if I lay over the middle...but that had been a concern for me as well before testing one. But, there was no way we were spending over $4000 on a mattress in any case.

We have had a Tempurpedic Cloud for the last 2 years. Dh loves it, but he can sleep on anything at the drop of a hat. I like it, but I have yet to find a bed that I can say I "love", so not sure if I am a good judge!

One of the things I did hear about Tempurpedics is that your body forms a depression that, when you move, is still there. With the Cloud, I do not find this to be true. I do move around a lot, and have never felt that there was a depression that I was rolling out of or in to.

What I do not like very much about the mattress is that my body parts sink in too much. I arch my back alot, for which I blame my many years of gymnastics (must perfect that arch of back and pointed toes!), and I actually prefer when my bottom half is on a firmer surface to force my back straighter. On the Cloud, everything is straight across the top, so formed into the bed underneath me. DH, however, lifts heavy things as a machinist, so he likes having his back relaxed and arch supported.

I do like that when I am on my side, my shoulders don't feel squished, more like rolled into the bed. I run the gamut of positions during the night, so I guess giving up back comfort for side comfort is just something I deal with.

In the summer, the mattress is squishier than in the winter. The air temperature does affect it.

If you ask my cats, they will tell you they love the bed. They are big Maine Coons, so they do make a dent in the bed when they lay!

I have yet to sleep on a Sleep Number bed, but I have heard there are hotels that offer them. Perhaps you can find one of those hotels and give that bed a try? Might help make the decision easier!

We to debated one, but bought just the mattress pad to see and thankful that we did as we didnt like it as it was incredibly hot and we dont like being hot while we sleep. Other than that i loved even just the matress pad as it was incredibly soft and cozy, hubby not so much as he has a bad back and found it to soft for him.\

We have a great mattress set with the pillow top and also spent almost $3000 on it and so far have found nothing worth upgrading to............

I have a lot of joint pain which is a side effect to medication I take and I was having a hard time getting comfortable on a traditional mattress.

We bought a Tempurpedic Contour (this is much firmer than the Cloud) with the Ergo Base. It was $6100 so not cheap. I am very comfortable in the bed, I no longer move (I used to be a toss and turn sleeper).

They now make a "breeze" option for their mattresses that is cooler for people who sleep hot. We do not have this as it wasn't available when we purchased. My husband notices no additional heat from the Tempurpedic but I have two hairless dogs who sleep curled up on me and I definitely notice the heat from them. I keep saying I'm going to buy a cooling mattress pad but the heat isn't so much that I've gotten around to it in the 3 years we have had the mattress.

I hate the pillows but I am happy with the mattress.

We have a Tempur Pedic Cloud, I think. It was mid-range between firm and soft. DH wanted it due to sciatic nerve trouble. He LOVES it and has not had any sciatic pain since. I think it is okay, it just depends on the night. Some nights I am not that comfortable, but it sure is super comfortable at 6:30 am when the alarm goes off!

Sometimes I notice a "hot spot" when I change positions and I can tell the mattress is hot, but it doesn't last. We don't have a problem with it being hot, and we don't run a lot of a/c either.

When you first get it, you have to give it a chance, because it will not be soft and squishy like in the store for at least a month. They recommended we have the kids march around on it to help break it in.

You reconfirmed what I've heard about Tempurpedic beds.

I hate being warm when I sleep (I leave the windows open in the winter) and I also move around alot.

I bought a Sealys Posturpedic with a firm mattress and pillow top. Being delivered on Wednesday. Sounds like the right choice!

We have had our Tempurpedic mattresses (in NH and FL) since before there was more than one model! The only thing that had me sleeping better was our ancient waterbed until it had a leak (what a mess). If we need to replace one in the next several years we will look at some of the more recent models, but the basic one is great for us right now.

We did try a sleep number bed and it felt like camping - I never liked sleeping on an air mattress!

Good luck finding the bed that is most comfortable for you.

thanks for all the replys, i'm leaning towards the cloud model, they have one on closeout that i'm looking at more, its an 8" thick medium soft. i do like the 4 yr interest free financing which will make it a little easier to pay off, and free delivery.

I can assure you that, having had 4 pregnancies, intimacy with your spouse is not remotely a problem with a TempurPedic.

We have a TempurPedic and have had it for years. It moved across the country with us and feels just like it did the day we got it. We love it and actually dislike most hotels now cause we miss our own bed.

My husband used to snore and this stopped with the TempurPedic. He will snore on vacation, so it is clearly the difference in the bed.

We live in southern Arizona. It is always hot. We have never had a problem at night. I'm big on a cool room when I sleep and my husband is often cold even with the TempurPedic. It definitely doesn't produce a noticeable amount of heat. Even when I was pregnant and constantly hot, I was fine in the TempurPedic. It also doesn't sink in so much that you can't comfortably move around. I just had major abdominal surgery so moving around isn't particularly easy for me at the moment, but I don't have any issues in my bed. In fact, sitting/laying on the couch actually hurts and pulls on my stomach, but the TempurPedic supports my stomach all around and makes sleep very comfortable.

So clearly, we're big fans. We were super hesitant to buy one initially (We have an older model that isn't made anymore, but it's fairly firm), but we love it. In fact, we love it so much that when our kids transitioned to regular beds we got them TempurPedic mattresses too. They got the basic model as they had no preference and they were far more reasonably priced.

I agree with justhat. I love my Temperpedic and have had no issues with heat or support. I will never go back to a traditional mattress.
