AUGHHHHH!!!!

Why does airfare from my hometown to Orlando have to be $92 r/t for a Monday-Friday this May?!?!?!?! That's so unbelievably cheap!! Allegiant is running some amazing deals. And every time I look, the price keeps getting cheaper. It was $160, then $102. I'm being so tempted to run away with DS for a week - especially because his birthday would be that next weekend.

And I have a friend and her DD (who is DS's best friend) who seems interested in going with us - we could share a Value room and split the cost on the kids stay & play free room.

We'd have to rent a car because we'd be flying in to the Sanford Airport so we could stop and pick up a few food items to save some money too...

DH is telling me to go. My supervisor told me to go. Why haven't I booked the flight?!?!?

Go, Go, Go!!!

I think you will regret later if you don't! :goodvibes

This was probably the wrong place to come to ask this question, isn't it... all you enablers!!

I just looked and a Delta flight from our airport to MCO is $550!!!

So the whole time I'm reading your post I'm thinking ok so either they are on a really tight budget or saving for something else, DH isn't happy about the idea, or she can't get time off work... then I got to the bottom and now I'm confused... why haven't you booked a flight yet?

I have an idea your like me and hate spending money on things and need other people to tell you its ok, even when you know you have the money. Like me who has 200 in my fun-money account (my DH and I both have an account that we put money in each paycheck and we can spend on whatever we want) and needed DH and someone he works with to convince me to buy a bracelet I have been wanting for over 2 weeks... and it was on sale for $40.

Go its ok, you can get the time off work, you only have to pay the cost for you and it would be an amazing surprise for your DS.

Or its the perfect place to ask since you really just need someone to tell you its ok. (and it is)

I do understand though. I have been wanting to go to disney forever and the first time we went I was dreaming about it for weeks and looking up deals in secret and then I found a really good one and showed DH. Who just looked at our bank account balance, looked at the price, and went "ok book it". Sometimes I really envy his ability to do that.

It is the whole should-I-really-be-spending-the-money-to-do-this or should I spend it on the new couch we've been talking about... or is it excessive since we're going in December with my parents, sister and BIL... or should I pull DS out of school for a week... Just my inner turmoil having to come out and be sorted through...

I had put it out of my mind thinking friend wouldn't be able to go (and being able to split the room would make it affordable) until we were at my friend's house for dinner last night. Her DH was showing me pictures from their trip to Disney a couple of years ago. And I said something to him about I bet your wife has told you I'm being tempted and he said something like yes, she did and it's not out of the question. It just opened up the question of going again!

I'll see my friend today and we'll have to talk...

You should absolutely go. The way I look at things is if you can afford it (that means, no CC debt, some money in savings...), then go for it. You never know what tomorrow will bring - so you've got to enjoy today! :thumbsup2

Oh my!!! You must go! I absolutely love last minute trips. And you can tell yourself that you won't spend any money on this trip (except for food & tips).

OK, now I'm going to look to see if I can get in a cheap trip at the last minute! lol. Every time I try to plan one, something comes up, like higher airfare, etc.

I can only recommend going if you have no credit card debt and if you have the money to pay for the trip you will be taking. Charging the trip and coming home to debt is just a bad idea.

I posted last week that Allegiant was $60 RT out of Cedar Rapids Iowa... how far north into MN are you?

We booked the flight for a weekend in June $300 RT for three of us with taxes and fees.

Allegiant also had RT fares from Des Moines to LA for $40 RT and we are booked for Labor Day weekend

I cant pass up cheap airfare... booked the car on priceline for LA and using Delta rewards for extra FF miles in Orlando.

ITS AWESOME!!

Guilty of the same thing...
We had planned on going in September...until I saw $9.99 airfares.
So instead of a big family trip in Sept...we are now going from Tues-Sat mid May. Hubby isn't able to go with us so it will just be me and a 4 and 6 year old.
Our airfare for the 3 of us plus the bag was only $82 one way and then they have a rental car deal for $24.99 that we booked and are driving home in 2 days.

My friends all think I'm insane for going back so soon (we just went in December). They just don't get it :)

Book it !! You'll probably regret it if you don't. Think of all the memories you'll have with DS if you go! They aren't young forever.

If you can afford it, GO!

We just returned (2 AM today) and I'm already trying to figure out when we can go back. We always go every April but I hate waiting 12 months!

Where are you flying from?? I want to go, too!!! I'm just over the Wisconsin line??

I say go for it! Sounds like an inexpensive trip!

I do have to chuckle at the comments about only being allowed to go on vacation if you have zero debt. No one else makes the rules but YOU and your own family, remember that ;)

I just looked and a Delta flight from our airport to MCO is $550!!![/QUO There are no such deals here. Our fares are from 520.0 and up. I just got back from DW two weeks ago so I have had my fill for a while. I can give u my opinion due to the heat I HONESTLY would not go till Nov now EVEN if they picked me up with a private jet on their dime. Great trip but now it's just going to be HOT and more crowded. Sorry to rain on your parade but the crowds are still in my memory and the weather was great.

The flights are out of Duluth, so we're up north. Usually we drive to Minneapolis to fly out because it's so much more expensive up here.

I'll see my friend in a bit and see if she's serious...

I get your agony! LOL! I just got swayed into a similar situation. My hubby, myself, and our two little guys (5 and 3) usually go to wdw annually during the end of January/beginning of Feb and then a week long beach camping trip in summer. DH just switched positions for work and due to training and such, he will not be able to hit the beach this summer or go to wdw in winter 2011. I was telling him about the kids play, stay, and dine free deal and the free dining info as there are a few of his current co-workers looking to book. He said you should take the boys and go - as it would be really reasonable to go with my 5 yr old and 3 yr old under the kids play, stay, and dine free deal ($878 total for food, hotel, and tickets) I was worried about going to wdw with the boys by myself, but my sister lives down there and she is going to take a couple days off and be my second adult at the parks. She has tickets already, so she is happy to come spend the days with us.

Airfare was the kicker for me, but I ended up with a good deal on airfare - $371 for 3 roundtrip tickets (includes taxes and baggage fees), so I booked this weekend! So we are cancelling our beach camping trip (whew! I was a little worried about pulling the camper 7 hours to the beach by myself!) and heading to wdw instead!

The boys don't know yet! Can't wait to go with them. We are going for 5 nights at the end of September! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck and for the record, my vote is to go.

Val.
