Opinions needed - I currently work part-time (4 hours per day) at a decent job with minimal benefits, but good atmosphere. I have a degree in Communications and am not really using it in this job as Office Manager of a small non-profit organization. There are several full-time TEMPORARY jobs opening in my field (communications) due to local National Guard soldiers being deployed. These jobs would be twice the pay as I make now (due to higher wage and full-time status). I would get some great exposure to the communications world, make some new connections and be able to put money away. But, I would be out of a job as soon as the deployed soldiers return (which in my heart I would hope to be soon - for their families' sake). What would you do? Stay at the semi-stable (it is a non-profit) part-time job, or go for it and jump into the world of temporary full-time? My kids' schedules and an increase in daycare is a consideration, but so is my exposure to new skills and people that will help me continue my career.
I know this is a very complicated issue and it may be hard for people to offer opinions, but I'm just looking for some thoughts, or help, in making my decision.
Has anyone ever worked a full-time, temporary position and what happened?
Thanks for any thoughts!
