Telling kids about surprise trip - ideas?

Ok - an update:

All the "clues" and gifts are in place. When they walk in tomorrow evening, there will be a balloon floating with the first riddle, leading them to the next clue and a package for one child, another clue/package, and another clue/package, until the final clue which is the Hogwart's acceptance letter, which will be in the "cupboard under the stairs" attached to a Hedwig balloon.

We should be back around 4 - 5 pm tomorrow, so they will know then. Soooooooo excited! :yay:

Thanks for everyone who provided input!! Will let you know how it goes!

Love your idea! I can't wait to see your update and how everything went!!!

We surprised our DD with 3 days at Disney before going to UN (she knew we were going to UN so packing/planning she still had a part in, just no idea we were leaving three days early) we woke her up early the morning we were leaving and had her favorite Build-a-Bear dressed up like a Disney princess.

It was a BIG hit!! They were completely surprised (I think stunned, really) ... even a few minutes after everything, they were like, "Wait, THIS Thursday??!" :lmao: But in a good way! Initially they thought it was just a game for the end of the school year, until we got to Hedwig in the closet!

I am definitely glad I did it a few days in advance. They were thrilled to tell all their friends and teachers today, and DD9 has been reading the Universal Orlando guide book I bought ever since she found out, lol.

Leaving in 3 days! Woo Hoo!

Yay!! A future US trip planner in the making!! So glad everything worked out! Have fun!!

You did such an awesome job. I love that you gave them a few days to add to the anticipation.
