Hi Everyone, to all of you who have visited the state parks and Paris, tell me why I should go to Paris, was really looking forward to planning a trip there, it would be a once in a lifetime trip for me. However I am getting a little discouraged, one of my favorite things is the characters, however I have heard several times that the characters in Paris are rude to adults, is this true. Also please tell me why to go, the best parts, etc. Feel free to post pictures as well. Thank You.:)

We don't tend to queue for the characters much (I did meet Duffy in EPCOT as I was excited about seeing him and he only had 1 other person in line) so I can't give you feedback on them in that respect.

We've done a couple of character meals in DLRP and the characters have been perfectly friendly with us, some just stopping for photos and others being a bit more playful.

The same at WDW though as we don't stop often for characters at either so I'm probably not the best to compare.

I'd say though, that don't fly all the way over here just for DLRP, it'd be a shame to fly 12 hours (give or take, I don't kow which state you live in) and not see London or Paris or maybe even other parts of Europe.

So I'd definitely suggest DLRP to any Disney fans who find themselves in this part of the world for a vacation. It's a great way to have a day or two's Disney fix.

There are some fun differences, some of the rides are different and there are some unique attractions.

I guess it's the same as how we feel about HKDL and TDR. When we are lucky enough to finally plan a trip to Japan, then we'll definitely have 3 days or so a DL and TDS, but that would be a couple of days out of a much longer trip.

DLRP isn't like WDW in that an entire long haul vacation can be spent there (in my opinion) but it's a great oppurtunity for a Disney fan to see another park whilst seeing new parts of the world.

We go to DLP regularly as we live in the UK and have never had any of the characters be unfriendly or rude to us as adults or to our children.

DLP is very different to WDW, in that it is European in the approach to things, so customer service is very different, people dont tend to queue up to see the characters either so there is normally a large crush when the characters come out, however this is easily avoided by booking character meals where they will spend a good amount of time with each table.

There is much more attention given to the details in all the rides than in WDW. Its a lovely park to visit.

As PP as said if you are coming to Europe anyway then 2/3 days spent as DLP will be plenty to see both the parks, but it would be a huge shame to come all this way just for DLP :confused3

Thank you for the great replies. I was going to only plan to go to Disneyland Paris, however now you all have me wondering. The only thing that frightens me is I will be traveling alone so not sure if I will be able to figure out how to get into Paris or London, the only thing I would want to see in Paris would be the Eifel Tower, would not mind going to London to see a few things as well as the Harry Potter museum. Would I be able to do it by myself? Is it hard, I would not drive. :)

Please show me your photos from Disneyland Paris to get me excited. Thank you.:)

Have you read some of the trip reports - scroll to the top of the page and there is a seperate section for them

Ive been to WDW and DL as well as DLP and DLP is more similar to DL in that everything is very close together. You can walk from one park to another in minutes and to Disney Village

It is the most beautiful of all the Disney Parks - the landscaping and attention to detail is lovely.

BTM is better at DLP as its on an island
Space is rougher and goes upside down
Crush is unique to DLP
POC is better - the drops are bigger

Its really easy to get to London- you can get the Eurostar from the station at the entrance to the parks
To get to Paris you can get a train from the station (about 40mins) or there are arranged bus tours from DLP

How long would you be planned to come to Europe for?

Paris is a beautiful city with so much to see. The metro makes it easy to travel around. Rough guides have an excellent planning guide which would help you decide other places you may like to visit.

You could also catch a train and go further South in France if you fancied seeing more of the country.

As PP has said it is really easy to get to London on the eurostar, you can go from right outside of the parks, and there is plenty in London to keep you busy.

If you pay for the flight over here its a really shame not to see some of Europe as well.

Have fun planning :cool1:

I can understand your reluctance to tour around on your own. Had you thought about joining a coach tour, just so you don't have to worry about organising every little detail yourself? You could fly into London, book a short tour around the UK, then either take the Eurostar train that drops you off right inside Disneyland, spend a few days in the parks and do one of the trips into Paris from your disney hotel (this can be booked at your hotel concierge desk), or you could join another coach tour in the UK that goes to Paris and disneyland?

I was one of those commenting negatively.

I had it happen once that a character refused me a picture signalling I was not a kid anymore, and once I was told by a CM in a line the meet and greets were for kids. Also at character meals more than once a character simply ignored our all adult table.

However, unless you count that signalling as being rude no character has directly been rude to me. I personally would call that gesture inappropriate, but not rude. I got the picture in the end anyway when he realized he wouldn't get rid of me that easy. ;)

As long as you are willing to stand your ground against CMs like the one mentiond above and if necessary (if you are doing character meals that is) place a direct complaint like "Tigger, you skipped me!" or inform a CM that the characters walk past you'll be alright.

:scared1:

That's really bad! I'd be really annoyed if that had happened to me. As we all know, Disney isn't just for children and for a CM to be so judgemental like that is extremely rude.

We have never experienced the characters being rude to adults and many of them even play with my hubbys beard and mess around with him aswell as my daughters.
