My favorite thing may be a negative for some people. I love that it's a bit isolated from the rest of the WDW parks and resorts. Once you are back to your resort you are in a little AKL/AKV bubble of African themes and animals. I find it very relaxing.

Walking into the beautiful lobby at the end of a hot day in the Parks.
The amazing attention to detail and theming.
The beautiful and huge pool - an oasis!
The yummy food choices..
The fabulous and interesting gift shop.
The variety of fun and interesting activities for everyone in every age group.
The fire pit with rocking chairs.
The animal viewing areas! We never get tired of watching the animals.

Aside from the obvious..... I love the decore of the Jambo House lobby. It is breathtaking!

Seriously, I don't have one single complaint about AKL. Everything about the resort is relaxing and stunning. The pool is gorgeous, the food, even at Mara, is delicious (and I'm really picky), and of course the animals! What's not to like?

We loved AKL! Great activities for the kids. My husband and I did the Wanyama Safari. We thought the safari followed by Jiko dinner was a highlight of our trip. My youngest would run to the balcony each morning to sit and watch the animals. My only complaint is that I didnt schedule enough down time to explore.

Wanyama Safari (a safari on the lodge's own savannahs, followed by a family style dinner at Jiko). Plan to do this early in your stay, so you know more about the animals your watching throughout the vacation.

Boma breakfast (our new must-do on Animal Kingdom days, even when we're not staying at AKL).
