Okay...I have finally narrowed down my choices for our trip to Disney next year. We are a family of 6 and our oldest is in 8th grade. We have 2 other school aged kids, but I am not concerned about them missing school, but I am definitely torn about my 8th grader missing school.

Option 1 is April 18-24, this is leaving 2 days after Easter and returning the following Tuesday. So, this is Spring break....will this be crazy? I assume the weather will be nice though! The good thing is my oldest son will only miss 2 days of school.

Option 2 is May 6-13. This weeks seems great, but I am so torn about taking my son out of school, as he would miss 5 full days. The crowds look amazing this week and I am sure weather would also be great.

Option 3 is June 3 -10. This week I assume will be the hottest, not sure about the crowds. My son will miss 5 days, but 3 of them his grade is going to Washington and he will not be going. So I am thinking he wont miss as much since most of the grade will be away for 3 days.

Okay....so what is everyones thoughts? We definitely dont want to do the Summer because of the heat! Please any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I've heard Spring break crowds are pretty heavy.
June is HOT.
I would do May out of your 3 choices

The best time to go is the one that fits your family the best.

Crowd predictors are inaccurate, at best, so don't bother with those. Obviously, the later in your dates, the hotter it will get, but that's not anything surprising. To me, this is more about how comfortable you are with taking him out of school.

Personally, June sounds like the best of the options to me, but that's just personal choice. The heat doesn't bother me and early June isn't the worst, July and August are.

I agree with PP, when your family can go is the best time.

A low crowd day or two is a you lucked out on your trip and not really a way to plan for it. if it's going to be quiet, disney is going to pull out some discount to get more people there and make it crowded again. Look at the recent AP deal to buy 1 day tickets half off for friends.. they never discount tickets.

I would prefer May out of those options. I often go in May - not too hot and crowds are survivable.

I have been at all 3 of those times and we are planning on going in March in 2017. May and June for us has been unbearably hot...I can't do those months anymore. Spring break is busy, but the weather is much more doable. As long as you have a plan and FP, you would be fine.

Weather trumps all other factors for me. January was great; August was unbearable.

We're actually planning something for that April week too. The weather should be nice, and better for swimming than January (if that's a factor for you).

Same. I have been in May, June, Sept and October and all have been incredibly hot and humid, with June and September being the worst for us. The summer months are actually the best for us due to my DD14 being in school, but I refuse to travel in Florida in the summer. We both wilt easily. I would rather pull her out of school and go when the weather is mild.
