Tell me what you dislike about Narcoossee's??

We went on our anniversary Last yr. It was ok, my whole steamed lobster was quite tough tho.

The almond encrusted cheesecake made up for it as well as the complimentary wine toast of Magicale and watching Wishes from the deck..

We honestly enjoyed Cali Grill (next night) more..

I have never had a bad experience there! I love it and try to go every trip. The bread is to die for and the almond crusted cheesecake is one of the best desserts I have ever had. I think that the portions sizes are fine. My husband is a big eater and he has never left hungry. Plan it so that you can stand on the porch and enjoy the fireworks after dinner. Very romantic!:)

Sometimes I wonder WHEN the people who didn't like Narcoossee's last had dinner there? WDW often changes or moves the chefs from one restaurant to another. Things change!

I have dined at Narcoossee's twice in the last year. Both times I ordered the surf and turf. Both service and the food was outstanding. Given a choice between the California Grill and Narcoossee's, I would have a hard time choosing. In my opinion, over the years, I have seen a small decline to the overall experience at the California Grill and surprisingly, an increase at the much maligned Brown Derby.

we ate there last may. the hosting staff was very stuffy to us as we checked in. our waitress was non-existant, and our food was just meh compared to yachtsman, cali grill, citricos... and even captain's grille!! if you put citricos in it's place you will be so much happier!!

I first ate at Narcoosee's on Christmas two years ago, with my mom and step father. Loved the view. The food was just not that good. We found the entrees to be very salty. Desert was good, though. We love the signature restaurants, and this one just didn't live up to the others for us.

Tried it again this past Christmas with sisters, nephews, etc. Again, loved the view. Food was meh. Way too much sauce on my shrimp, etc. No big complaints, just...meh. Best entree was my sister's vegetarian plate. That was YUM! And desert was great.

So...gave it two shots and we will stick with Brown Derby, Flying Fish, Artist's Point, etc, for now!

Hope that helps!

Very true but I also don't think that it's fair to rate a restaurant poorly because of your table location, fussy kids at the next table or because your event was not acknowledged by your waiter. I read on here all the time not to count on getting a window seat near fireworks times or for anything special to occur because you are celebrating something. I also do not think it is a faux-pas for entrees to come out while we are still eating appetizers but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, we found the portion size to be perfect. DH is a big eater but he left with a full tummy. DH loved the surf and turf and I loved the whole lobster. Both our lobsters were cooked perfectly. I adore lobster and eat it every chance that I get and it was not tough or rubbery at all. Our server was not the most attentive but she was still good. The food runners promptly boxed up our kids food when they brought it out and found them asleep. They also offered to hold our desserts because they come out just as Wishes was starting up but we welcomed them because it was great timing in our book.

So again I say, we loved it and we will be going back next trip.

We were so excited the first and only time we went. Since it was considered a signature restaurant, I was expecting the same type of food quality. I was very disappointed. I ordered the Lobster and my husband and son ordered the Surf and Turf. We were all quite disappointed. The Lobster was tough and the steak was just "okay". I think the only one who was satisfied with their meal was my daughter who had the kid's pasta. We eat lobster quite often since there is plenty where we live. The price was a bit higher than some of the restaurants here, but the food quality and preparation was far below the standard.

Although I will admit, I did like the Almond-crusted Cheesecake - but not enough to dine there again.

Essentially, I was disappointed with the quality of food we received based on the price. :sad2:

Loved our appies and desserts, not crazy on the entrees. DH had the surf and turf and the tail was good but the filet was a terrible quality of meat and very fatty and tough. I had the pork tenderloin and it was so dry I could not choke it down

Took the words right out of my mouth..........

Search around the DIS and you'll find someone blasting Victoria & Albert's while Garden Grove will get a rave review. You have to experience it to know if you'll like it, but I would say if the experience isn't going how you want it, speak up. For example, the post where the salmon was dropped but the other plates were served - we would have asked that they bring the other food back, refire it, and serve all of the meals together. It is impossible for the servers to know the attitudes of the diners - some people would have no issue with the first three plates being served and the salmon coming later.

For those that are citing poor quality of food - why didn't you send it back? I would do that at any restaurant, and particular at somewhere where expectations are higher. I am surprised to hear of these issues - but if it means it will be easier to get a Narcoossee's ressie for me, I am ok with it. :) I love when Kevin points this stuff out on the podcast - feel free to direct your meal. You are paying a lot of money for your vacation - it should be to the standards you expect, if not surpassing those expectations.

I put Narcoossee's near the top of the Disney dining experiences, worthy of signature status (assuming we have to have such a status in Disney dining), and a great place for a celebration. Hope it goes well for you!
