Tell me this is wrong... about Kitchen sink....from the Passporter newsletter

I have never heard of this.... this is from a guest column in the most recent passporter newsletter reguarding Beach Club resort...

"Out through the doors, past some of Stormalong Bay and on your right is the home of arguably the best burgers on Disney property – and surely the biggest dessert? Both can be found at Beaches and Cream, a 1950’s style diner, with its Kitchen Sink, packed full of bananas, ice cream, cookies, chocolate fudge cake, cream, cherries, nuts and chocolate sauce. Perhaps it’s easier to describe what’s not contained in it. Eat every bit of it on your own and you’ll get it for free – on all our visits to Beaches and Cream, it’s not a feat we’ve ever seen accomplished."

First I've ever heard of that. We've been to B & C a few times.

Probably the key here is "on your own"...most people share this with the whole family.

This is accurrate. I saw in a Pittsburgh newspaper about 6 months ago that listed the top ten giant eats in the U.S. Beaches & Cream was number 10 for its Kitchen Sink. It stated if you eat it all "yourself" it's free. As a previous poster said most people share it which disqualifies the potential free piece of the puzzle. I also believe you have to say you are going to attempt to eat it yourself when you order it.

I could see this being done, but you would have to eat nothing that morning...head straight to Beaches N Cream, and dig it. Then you could eat it all.

But if you have eaten early or plan to eat other items..then No.

Yep it's true.
There used to be a small movie clip on travel channel on how they make the kitchen sink. Samantha Brown at Disney world show...

i've seen a couple families ordered it too. Pretty fun.

they will dim and flicker the lights in the restaurant while bringing it out...
It's quite interesting to see people try to tackle that.

Last time I was there an 8 year old boy from Germany ordered one for himself to see if he was up for the challange. The rest of his family got another Kitchen Sink to share. They got it just as we were paying our bill so I didn't get to see how he did, but he was having the time of his life trying.

If you haven't seen the wait staff at B&C bring out the Kitchen Sink, you are missing one of the secret highlights of WDW .

We witnessed a family piling into this restaurant this September and I knew they were going to order the Kitchen Sink...And, sure enough, it was delivered with all the fanfare from the restaurant staff with a pile of spoons! They wasted no time digging in! At the time, I believe this dessert cost $21.99...It is worth it if you have a small crowd to enjoy it...Yummers!!!

Another question. Is it like Fear Factor where you have to keep it down for so many minutes and then it is free?
It sounds like this is not dessert you want to eat right before Mission Space.

We got the Kitchen Sink in November. It's an absurd amount of ice cream, toppings, bananas, cake, brownies and whipped cream (a whole can!). Five of us barely put a dent in it.

I don't think you have to eat it by yourself, but if you (and your party) can finish the Kitchen Sink in ONE HOUR, then it's free.

If that were true then my family should have had several free ones. We always finish it & in less than 30 minutes.. I have shared it with 4 people (me & three others). There was one time where there were about 10 of us & we ordered 3 & finished in less than an hour ...
I think in order for it to be free, it must be one person doing it. I know it is not a family in less than 1 hour.

I think you could actually have half a dozen people split it and still not finish!
There were pictures on another site but I forget the link.I think it was on Deb's page withe the menus.Mouse savers maybe?

I think if it's true, it must be one person aone, like the above poster, I too have had a group of 5 finish it in well under an hour.... it was the only thing we had had to eat and we ate it at 3:30pm so we were famished!

here is a photo of the one we ate, but it usually is prettier than this one... a 5 year old helped make it!
