So, I booked our WDW trip last Friday. I also included the dining plan (yeah!). I then went ahead shortly afterwards and started to make my ADR 's. I booked CRT and today I was charged for the full amount. I recall seeing this 2 yrs ago when I booked Akershus (i think), but I thought it meant a hold was placed on my card as a guarantee. Now that I think about it, I think the screen said charging my card. Anywho, I guess the system isnt smart enough to figure that out, huh?

Well, even if it's a headache trying to get fixed....at least we have dinner scheduled.

CRT is considered a Signature meal and payment in full is required at the time of booking. Akershus is a one TS credit on the dining plan and doesn't require pre-payment.

Really? even on the dining plan? Ok my guess on Akershus was wrong...but i recall using a credit card to hold a dining ressie before...just not charged inadvance.

From others posting about CRT it is my understanding that if you book online even though you are on DP your cc will be charged, to avoid that happening you have to book CRT via phone.
I have also read of people getting the charge reversed when they go to CRT not sure if anything can be done before then or not

I did the same thing for our trip in June. We are doing the DxDP and booked CRT for our anniversary. They did charge our cc the full amount and were told that we jsut need to tell them there that we are on DP and we would get the refund. Had the same thing for Hoop Dee Doo.

I booked CRT, Akershus and the Hoop de doo last week using our dxdp last week and was not charged as of yet. I think the trick is that there is some small print on the reservation page that tells you to add your reservation number. It then states clearly on the credit card page that your card will NOT be charged at that time. It will only be charged if you fail to show. or cancel within 2 days. I think it was full price for Hoop de doo and CRT and 10 bucks each for Akershus and Fantasmic dinner package!!

Yes, this. I booked Hoop De Doo, and because I was logged in, and it knew that I had the dining plan, it just used my credit card as a HOLD, it clearly stated that because I was on the dining plan, I could use my credits, and it wouldn't be charged to my card, but rather HELD. If we don't show up or cancel in time, THEN it will be put on my card.

I guess I need to call. Since I hav made my original resort/dining/tix ressie, it takes several attempts for me to make dining ressies. I log in, then I search for times, then I have to login again...then it tells me I have no ressies. Weird stuff......another thing to add to my to do list - ugh!

I booked online and mine are linked to my DxDP but I did get charged for them. When I called DVC member services, they said that it would just be refunded to my account once they swiped my dining card.

So, I called dining. They rebooked my ressie and all is OK. Then I went online and cancelled the original. Will get a refund within 2 days.

I have CRT, SoA, and the F package all under our DxDP. I called for these so I was not charged the full amount, however I still had to give them my CC so they can hold our table. As for Akershus, whether you call the dining line or do it on your computer, you have to give them your CC just to hold....they do this for signature restaurants as well.

I booked CRT under our DxDDP reservation and was not charged. I needed to input a CC though in case we don't show. I think you have to make sure you're logged in with your DP reservation while doing dining ressies.
