Tell me, please, what you do with your iPad.

I mean other than just using apps, what do you, or can you use it for? Anybody have any interesting or unusual uses for their iPad?

No need to mention iTunes... what I am looking for is things beyond the obvious. :):thumbsup2

I like to use it to read the DISboards. :-)
I also use it to catch up on LOST and Grey's Anatomy episodes. Right now I'm about to use it as a flashlight when I go to bed so I don't wake up my sleeping husband. :cutie:

I don't have an iPad yet, but I do audio books on-line from my library from overdrive media on my iPod touch. It's great and cheap because I no longer have to buy audio books!

I just got one two weeks ago and LOVE it! Our laptop crashed a while ago. My dh got it for our 15th anniversary present.

I use it for web surfing, email, games and reading. I downloaded the kindle and nook apps which are free and now have a bunch of books to read. I also have an App called Zinio which let's you buy each issue or subscribe to magazines. I also use it for a calendar/address book. I have not even touched the surface of what it can do.

The ONLY downside for me is the typing is slower and I can't print from it.

Other than that, I'm really amazed by it. (I'm using it now!)

My coworker used her for the book reader and for taking notes when conducting interview.

Zinio is my favorite app and best use of my iPad so far. I've replaced my paper subscriptions to Oprah, More and Marie Claire with digital ones. I also have the Vanity Faire app for that magazine. Reducing the paper clutter of those 4 monthly magazines has been nice!!

I also subscribe now to US Weekly and OK! just because it's so easy and again, no magazine clutter. Want to look back a couple of months and brush up on what the Kardashians were doing in June? It's all right there in the iPad's memory.

If the book reader background is set to sepia I can use it comfortably as a book reader, but I MUCH prefer my Kindle for reading novels.

Otherwise I use it pretty much the same way I do any computer - browse the web, check email, Facebook, and play Tetris - you know, the important things in life!!

I love my IPad! I use it mostly for web surfing and reading. I don't even have many apps. I love to type on the keyboard! I spend a lot of time taking my DD places and since I have the 3G, I just pop out the IPad and play! :thumbsup2 I love the instant on...no waiting for boot up time. Last month, DD and I went on a trip and used it to research colleges while we were driving and to find places to eat. I don't know how I ever survived without it!

I would love to have one just to be able to surf the web in the car or out and about. I already have a kindle though and my kids made me promise not to buy one. I ended up getting a wireless 4g card from sprint and will use that in the car with my cute pink netbook.

The iPad also has Netflix capability, which iPhones do not.

as a side note, I play on my iPhone when waiting for the kids to get out of school, and some times I get so tied up in a game that I'm disappointed when the pick up line starts moving!

Interesting, because my iTouch has Hulu Plus, which is sort of the same thing.

I imagine if I get one, I would use it to show potential clients photo and video samples of my work.

I read/listen to books, its great for movies and tv shows, and games. I LOVE IT!!!

Does anyone know about parental controls for these?
We're thinking of getting one, sort of for the whole family. We have a tween and young kids and need some kind of filter or monitor.

My sister has one. She doesn't like it for reading ebooks though. She uses it a lot of Hulu, Netflix and YouTube. She likes playing board game apps on it like Scrabble, Monopoly etc.

I don't know about the Netflix on the iPhone, but I was able to get the app/capability for my iPod touch.

Technology illiterate here!! How do you get internet service on your iPad???

Yes, I also would like to know about internet on the ipad. Is there a monthly service charge for this? Would this be a better gift for my dd16 than the new ipod touch?

I'm not sure, but I think one of the is really like a big verson of the iPod touch and 1 that you have to pay for monthly service to get internet capability. I don't understand all of that techinal stuff though, tht is why I chose the current iPod touch, great thing is that iTunes is pretty simple.

The Ipad is more than a larger Ipod touch. We have both. In order to get the internet you have to purchase the Ipad that also has wifi and the 3g. We bought before they changed the data plan. We pay $30 per month for unlimited data, now the plan is $25 a month for 2GB a month.

We use it for all sorts of things. When we went to a new spot for vacation, we used Urban Spoon to help us find restaurants in the area. My husband uses it more than I do and he uses it for all sorts of things.

Pretty sure that is incorrect. I just looked at the Netflix ap on Itunes and it says Ipad, Iphone and Touch.

Aha- it looks like it came out on August 26th! Thanks for the info! Off to download the app...
