50's Prime Time Cafe and Restraunt Marrakesh. :)

My dh would like to know how 'annoying' 50's is. lol :p See he is not an extroverted person when we go out to eat , and he HATES when the waiters/waitresses get overly chatty and create antics .

That is why I had to cancel my adr last year for WC because he didn't like the chance of the staff trying to get him involved in wackyness. ;) I like talking to waitresses and what not, but to tell you the truth, I HOPE they aren't too chatty because anyone who has ever gotten an overly talky waiter sometimes wants to say "shut up and let me eat" . :rotfl2: So how 'bad' are the waiters and waitresses about that kind of stuff at 50's? Will they get the hint that my dh doesn't want to be 'messed' with? :rotfl:

Also, I have a question about Marrakesh. How is the food and atmosphere? When do they have the bellydancers? :flower:
Keep in mind I am VERY adventurous when it comes to food. I know that it has exotic spices and am NOT a wimpy-chicken when it comes to trying new things. ;) What kind of deserts do they have? TIA!!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

Here is the Marrakesh menu:

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_mor.htm

This is from Steve Soares' website on the belly dancers:

Traditional Moroccan music and dance inside Restaurant Marrakesh.
Daily at 12:50, 1:50, 2:50, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 & 8:10pm
Belly Dancer begins 10 minutes after show begins.
Length of show: 25 minutes

If you do a search on this board you will find many threads on PTC which should help answer your questions about the antics. Some servers are really into it, others are not.

We have never had a really into it waiter at 50's. Both times we had one that just didn't do much. There are some that do, and they are fun to watch, but neither of ours did. The second one we had noticed immediately we were exhausted and not playful right then and totally laid off it and instead really interacted with the table next to us who were playing into it. We love the food here, it's very good with large portions. You can always ask at the podium for a less-playful waiter and they will arrange that. It's really hit and miss if you opt to take what you get.

I LOVE Marrakesh. It's toned down Mediterrean food, but still good. The belly dancer performs all day long every hour, I believe, so you should be able to catch her. She's beautiful! The atmosphere is relaxing and rich and a true escape from the hussle of the park. It is usually not crowded, either, which is a plus! I got a feast the last time I was there and a dessert was included. I can't remember what it was but I enjoyed every bite.

We didn't do 50's PTC so I can't review but I can't say enough good things about Marrakesh. Atmosphere and floor show were great and food was superb. Spices were mild I thought (but I love spicy food so it's probably perfect for the average eater). Lentil and lamb soup was to die for and their fruit drinks were wonderful. Seafood in pastry and chicken kebabs were yummy. Try the Marrakesh Delight for dessert. It's fresh fruit, mint ice cream and orange blossom water. We were on the free dining but the price of our dinner was very reasonable (compared to other Epcot restaurants) and I wouldn't mind paying next time. We enjoyed this meal to no end!

MY DH hated Prime Time because the waitress was chatty and into character, doing her schtick about no elbows on the table, etc. It just wasn't his thing. I thought it was funny and i liked the food. He won't ever go back.

::MickeyMo 50's Prime Time. Great food, but the interaction experience will depend on the type of person you are. We've had very "into it" waiters and waitresses. If they see you're getting embarrassed and what not, they tend to pick on people who are more into it. I still think it's a great place to eat, a fun experience, and the fried chicken is fab! ::MinnieMo

Thanks for the responses. :) I'm sure my dm will like 50's since she was a young teen back then. lol

I have another question about the deserts in Morroco (not just Marrakesh). See, my bro-in-law gives me a huge gift box of Arabian goodies every Christmas. He gives it to me because he gets it from a Jordanian coworker, and my dbil is not very 'adventurous' with different food. lol One of them is Baklava (sp?), and there are a LOT more goodies that I don't know the name of and that I would like to know if they serve in Morroco. One of them is like a nest made out of shredded wheat with honey and a LOT of pistachios. Also, how is the Baklava? TIA!! :goodvibes

The Baklava is the only thing I have ever gotten from Morocco and I loved it! Everytime DH and I have talked about Morocco since, I've brought up the fact that the Baklava is sooooooooooo yummy! Love it! We're going to try Restaurant Merrakesh this time and I just can't wait!

Have not eaten at Marakesh in many years because we have a pickey 15 yr old DS. We ate there when he was little and it was great! Planning on going back some day (maybe when he is in college! :rotfl2: ).
The 50's Prime Time does not get enough credit for very good food and generous portions. We always eat there and have a good time. We are not into the "games" that go on but enjoy watching the action. Our waiters and waitress over many visits have always picked up on this and just toy around a little. DS loves to pretend to have his elbows on the table but is otherwise very quiet. A lot of fun with great food.

I love Prime Time. Love it! But I love to play with the cousins. :) DH is not so into the whole interactive thing, so we don't do it every trip. I've always gotten servers who are very in to character.

Marrakesh is one of our favorite places. It has become a must-do for us. I love the food, and the atmosphere. I haven't had it yet (because I'm always so stuffed after eating), but my MIL says the Bastilla is to die for so we'll definitely try it on this next trip.

i am a bit shy too and did not enjoy 50's prime time for that reason, as well as i was just unimpressed with the food - i got some sort of fancy cheese on toast or something, ick.
LOVE MARRAKESH. i try to experience new restaurants whenever i go to WDW, but we always keep going back to Marrakesh. the food is delicious and inexpensive (they have a lunch special - 3 courses for $13!), the belly dancers are great and often pick someone from the crowd to dance with them (I did it once :teeth: ) - but if you don't want to, they don't push. plus it is usually not crowded, i guess most people don't know about it since it's tucked away in the back of morrocco, and we always get great service. i am hungry just thinking about it!!

We've eaten at the Prime Time on two different visits. Once we had a server who was really into it, the other time we had one who was just so-so. My DH really gets into playing along, so he's not too easily embarrassed. :teeth: My two DD's (9 and 11) really like it. One funny(?) thing was that I do not like green beans. I didn't eat them and tried to cover them up. My server made a big deal, but I just remembered that I was a 30 :earseek: something adult, and she could not make me eat those green beans.

That being said, as true Southerners, we enjoy the menu there. It's typical Southern Sunday dinner fare (fried chicken, meat loaf, pot roast/potatoes/carrots :cloud9: )

I've found the 50's staff to be hot and cold, also. Mostly cold at my table on all of the 4 times we've tried it, but it always looks like everyone around us is having a lot more fun. I wouldn't say the food is the reason to go, so if your not wanting the antics, I would recommend just walking in and looking around and eating somewhere else.

We really like eating in Morocco. Beautiful restaurant, interesting (but not too interesting) food, and we enjoy the entertainment.
