We will be there in a few weeks for the first time and I have a few ?'s.

1. From doing a search on the boards, I see that there is crabbing off the pier. Do you have to use their supplies? Or can we bring our own?

2. Are these Blue Crabs we are talking about? As in Maryland Blue Crabs?

3. What do people do with these crabs once they are caught? Do they have to put them back? Reason I ask is, being from the Chesapeake region, if those suckers are more that 5" point to point, I would want to take them back to the villa and steam them and eat them on my porch. Is this ok to do?

4. How much does it cost to rent bikes through Disney? If we bring our own, is there a place to lock them up?

5. Is there a golf course with a pitch and putt course? Or at least , any suggestions for good putt putt golf?

All info is appreciated!

1) You can definitely bring your own crabbing supplies.

2 & 3) Not sure exactly what kind of crabs these are, but they are not very big. I don't know that you HAVE to put them back, but you would have to work pretty darned hard to get any decent amount of meat out of them. I don't think it would be worth it. (You can get crab legs right at the Piggly Wiggly if you're in the mood. ;) Possibly Barnacle Bills [just north of the resort] has fresh crab.) I'm sure the recreation staff will know whether or not the ones you catch have to be thrown back or not.

4) Bikes are $25 for members; $30 for non-members for your length-of-stay. You can get locks, baskets, and helmets at no additional charge. There are a few bike racks at the resort (like near the pool, etc.) and a lot of people lock up their bikes to the porch railings right outside their rooms.

5) Not sure about a pitch and putt course nearby. I doubt it. There are several miniature golf courses in the area, including one within easy walking or biking distance of the resort.

There is an executive golf course just of the island, The Executive Golf Club. take the entrance to Hilton Head National, the road to the executive course is the first left.
