I have heard a rumour that Osborne Lights are going to be discontinued. Is thia true? We saw them in 2012 for the first time and they were fabulous!

Not sure if there's anything truth to it this time, but that rumor surfaces EVERY year.

It was part of a rumor that they would going to put in Carsland or Star Wars Land at DHS. The rumor was that they were going to take out the stunt stadium, the backlot tour and the NY Street. Since there have been no announcements on that, I think it's safe that it will be back this year.

I think it will be there as lons as the "Streets of America" section of the park is there. Many people speculate that this area is ripe for redevelopment as a Star Wars or Cars land, but we don't really know. Considering that they have not announced a new land, and they usually don''t even start construction for a year after an announcement, I'd say the lights are a pretty safe bet for 2014. After that, who knows?

For what it's worth Jim Hill (google it) reported that since Mr. Osbourne passed away the rest of his heirs want Disney to pay for the use of their name. Disney originally got it for free.

Given that, Jim said that ABC is going to produce a reality show for Christmas lights and the winner gets their lights put up somewhere.

Go look up a podcast from The Unofficial Guide Disney Dish with Jim Hill. I believe it's one of those.

I would take anything Jim Hill says with a grain of salt.

Agreed. He repeats the rumors he's heard with too much authority. Even if the source is inside Disney. He's very good at repeating stories about things that Disney never ended up doing.

Then Disney can just change the name of the lights. How about, "Walt's Lights"?

It's a rumor till proven otherwise. But we all remember what happens to PUSH right?

Well, in that case, I would say that the Osborne Lights aren't going anywhere.

Does anyone know when the lights usually start? We will be there mid November....

Not sure the date they go up but I know they will be up for the wine and dine half marathon in the first weekend of nov so you will see them for sure!

I am glad they are staying - they were absolutely beautiful. Hopefully, they will still be there in 2015!

At the time it was rumored to be happening because of some sort of new project at DHS. But with MM+ over budget, I think a lot of plans have been put on hold.
