After researching a bit, which included messages from this forum (thank you very much), I called in a reservation for the Port Orleans Riverside yesterday. I have four kids, and they really need their own beds. The trundle beds sound like just the ticket! I reserved two rooms.

Now, this is a big deal to me and my family. It's expensive enough to be a once in a lifetime vacation. My kids are 20, 16 and twin 7 year olds.

I'm really worried that something will get screwed up. To me, it's a ton of money and I can't afford to waste it.

So, this morning, I check on my reservation. It's under the wrong name! Not even close (well, the correct first initial of the last name). They tell me they need me to fax in a written request to correct it.

It makes little sense to me. They say it's for "security of our guests." I say, hey, if they took the info over the phone when I made the reservation, they should accept the correction over the phone. But I fax it in.

This afternoon, I check again. Nope. Not corrected. Oh, and the number they gave me to fax the correction was the wrong fax number. Fax it in again to a number.

How many hoops do I have to jump through to correct their error? They gladly took my deposit, but now that they have my money, they treat me like this????

What kind of organization am I dealing with??? Pretty low class, so far.

Wow.. I have been traveling to Disney for over 7 years and never had a problem...

They do it this way to protect you, I could easily call and say I was you (if I knew your name and ressie number) and have a ball changing things. This way they have a way to trace your changes, it protects you and Disney. I see nothing wrong with it and really don't understand your problem. I would be grateful they took these precautions.

I have also never had a problem. Did you make your ressies through CRO? They are usually pretty good. I hope it gets better for you. I would not let this incident ruin your thoughts on the Disney "organization". They have to follow their policies and if you feel you are not being treated right or are dealing with people that you feel aren't giving you the right info. then call back and ask to speak to a manager. I hope you can rectify this problem swiftly and have an enjoyable vacation!

I can understand your frustration. And, while it shouldn't happen, just like with all organizations you get some employees who are better than others.

What you might want to do is call back and verify that they have everything. Then ask to talk to a supervisor. Explain what has happened and tell them that you are concerned and want to make sure everything is fine in the computer, right now.

Also, request another confirmation,if you haven't gotten one, request that they send one right out to you with the corrected information.

As far as the written request, that is to protect both you and them. There are those out there, who if they got the confirmation number/name, etc. wouldn't even blink at changing things and messing it up. I never understood it but after working in the industry for some time, I know it happens.

You can also make requests on your reservation that will help for Disney to know your preferences. For example, if you want first floor or close to the food court. Depending on your preferences this can make a difference at the resort.

I think you will like Riverside. It is nice. There are a lot of advantages to staying there and the food court is great. Invest in the refillable mugs. They will save you a bundle.

My advice is to keep checking back to make sure they have everything just how it is suppose to be. I've always found that to be the best preventive medicine when traveling. I never trust them even if I've had positive experiences in the past. But, do ask to talk to a supervisor and express your frustration.

The other thing you can do is email WDW and let them know of your experience to date and your concerns for the future.

It will get better, I'm certain, landog. You will love POR. It is beautifully landscaped, and a wonderful place to vacation with the family. Have a great time!

Enjoy your trip to POR. It is a wonderful resort. Your family will enjoy it. And yes , it gets much better. I've never had a problem with my reservations in all the years I've been going. Their pretty good overall in treating their guests. Welcome aboard!

Thanks, all, I needed that! I'm really nervous about this. I did refax, and I'll check on Monday.

I still don't get it though, if someone knew my address and reservation number, they certain could also fax something in... But, I guess I can get past that.

One more question, it was asked:

>Did you make your ressies through CRO?

What is CRO?

Central Reservations Office. Go and have a ball, you won't regret it. Yes, you are spending alot of money, and that is scary. But Disney is first rate and as someone else posted, even in first rate places, there is always someone who either is having a bad day, or simply just doesn't know what their doing. Have fun!!:)

Landog, welcome to the Dis!

I'm glad you've relaxed a little bit. I have had Disney make mistakes with my reservations, too, and I know how frustrating it can be. Hang in there, the magic will come. And to get you a little more excited about your upcoming stay, here is the link to the Dreams Unlimited Travel website (Dreams is the mastermind behind this website right here -- the Dis) and their information on the Port Orleans Resort: Dreams Unlimited Travel's "Port Orleans" Information Website If you look at the left-hand side of that webpage, you will find a link to streaming video of that resort. Enjoy!

You didn't pay full price did you? PoR has been reserved for as little as 84 or 89 per night plus 11% tax... depends when you are going and what discounts are available, but keep your eyes open to the boards...

My family has been going to wdw ever since the Poly opened, and we have never had a problem like that. Whoa you are my hero!!!!!!!!
