I got teh green light to plana big Disney trip for my in-laws in honor of my nephew's first visit to WDW. Sounds like we'll be a party of approximately 15-18 adults plus one very happy 4 year old! We're planning on going next October as we can also celebrate three separate wedding anniversaries as well as F&W. We'll have 345 points available to us through our own DVC membership, and my rough estimate tells me we'll need an additional 800 points to make sure everyone has a bed in whatever DVC resort we choose to stay in. My question is, is it worth it to try and acquire that many points with the hopes we'll all be in the same resort?

I know F&W puts a lot of demand on BCV and BWV especially. Add that on top of the refurb going on at BC, and it sounds like our home resort will be out. I just don't want to go through all the hassle of geting that many points and not being able ot keep us together. Think this is doable?

The contract for the refurbishment at YC/BC does not appear to include BCV per the contract documents.

But trying to book everyone's villa may prove to be expensive for you. If you are looking for a transfer, you'll probably need points from BCV in order to get it for F&W since it books up early. It may be tough to get a single transfer of that many points.

You might be able to get multiple villas at OKW, SSR or AKV at seven months out.

It may be a tall order to get an 800 point transfer from 1 owner to book an Epcot resort at 11 months.

It may very well be doable if you are open to booking at 7 months and staying at SSR or OKW. You may be able to rent points from different owners for multiple units and tell MS that you are all travelling together.

Best of luck and be sure you come back and let us know how you manage to do. :)

To oblige the title of your thread: you're crazy. :)

I don't know how many people own an 800+ point contract at BCV, but it cannot be many. Then the likelihood of that owner wanting to transfer all their points to you seems further implausible. Finally, with the premium placed on BCV, the points could easily cost $15 a piece, so this one time transfer would run $12,000. I just don't think that will happen.

Agree with PP that you have a much better chance booking somewhere non-Epcot at seven months. For this group size, a GV plus a 2BR at OKW would likely be your best option for economy plus size of accommodation.

And if price truly is no object, contact one or more rental brokers and see if you can rent from multiple owners. Far more likely than your transfer scenario.

From my own experience, I think you're crazy bringing in-laws to Disney! Then again anyone bringing the people who hold the title of my in-laws would qualify as crazy. It's the people that fit the qualifier!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! First off, I actually get along great with my in-laws, and they are just as much into Disney than I am! I took them with us on our first DVC stay, and they had a blast.

As for the points, I also think it would be tough to limit ourselves to one resort. I was actually thinking about just transferring points and figuring out where we could go from there. Obviously, I would love to be able to have everyone stay at BCV for the week, but I have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting enough rooms for everyone.

I'm sure the points won't go to waste, but right now I just need to get an accurate head count before I proceed. While I'm at it, how are the grand villas at OKW? Was looking at them last ngiht on You Tube and they look enormous!

Do all of you need to stay DVC? You might be better off paying cash for some of the rooms.

Still don't think you will be able to accomplish this. Maybe someone else will chime in and confirm a sighting, but I've never seen anyone offer a transfer of 800 points at ANY resort. And because of the "1 transfer in or out per UY" rule, you would have to get all the points from a single source. You can't have four members each transfer 200 points to you. DVC doesn't allow it. And you can't borrow transferred points, so having someone transfer 2016 points wouldn't work either.

If you're set on DVC accommodations for the trip, why don't you contact a rental broker and let them help you get all the reservations. Especially if you're not absolutely fixed on BCV, this should be fairly easy to do via a broker (who can use multiple different owners to rent you each of the room reservations.). You might get all the rooms at BCV; it just would be more likely at any of the larger resorts, where more owners will be renting.

This is what I needed to hear. I didn't realize we could only tansfer points in and out once per UY. Makes life a lot easier for me! At this point, I may just get regular hotel rooms and pray for a good discount by next year. Thanks for the info!
