I cancelled my June 1-9 BLT reservation, because Disney went ahead and cancelled my dining reservations and FPs through June 6th. Obviously, they are not planning on being open. I have points that were banked from 2018 that were used for reservations that were cancelled in April. They extended the expire date to Nov 30, 2020. I can't find an intact week for a studio from the end of August through November. There are some 1 bedrooms available at SSR, but 1) not my 1st choice of a stay, but I will if I have to and 2) I am traveling solo, I really don't want to spend the points on a 1 bedroom, but I will if I have to. I need to wait until June 5th to book these points, because that is when DVC will have them in my June 2020 UY. That probably means even less availability.

Anyone else trying to rebook before the end of the year and not finding much availability?

I had to rebook a May trip to October but was lucky to do at end of March.

I only got 3 nights of the 4 and keep trying. Not much there. And this was 1 bedrooms. Studios weren’t really an opinion and we had a 3 week window.

I'm not sure I understand why you have to wait. Couldn't you call member services and maybe they could work some Disney magic for you and get those points back so you can make a reservation? I would call them to see if they can make the reservation, they can do things we can't as I'm sure you know. I would think under the circumstances they may be able to help you. Like you said, the longer you wait its likely less will be available. Wishing you luck in getting a room before your points expire. :tink:

Our May trip at BCV was cancelled and I’ve banked 100% of 2019 UY into 2020. I’ve been snatching up nights, here and there, at Grand Cal when I can find them to consume the 2019 points. So far, I have 4 nights, each over weekends, in either 1-night or 2-night stays. Not optimal, but this should burn the points quickly, and won’t require any travel costs: no airfare, no animal boarding costs, etc. This could make for an interesting fall season of short stays.

Edited to add: We already had a fall trip, booked before the COVID-19 cancellations started, at our home resort (SSR) using some of the 2020 points. I’ve modified that reservation to use points that were banked after the fall reservation was initially booked. @Disney1fan2002 : Do you already have a reservation booked that could be modified to use the older points?

Edit #2: Oh, SNAP! I just snagged 4 nights in Dec at the Grand Cal just before Christmas. YES! We are going for the decorations! (OK, this will require animal boarding ... but 4 nights at the Grand Cal! Whee!)

We are planning on an impromtu beach trip in a few weeks but will follow standard self-isolation & other safety protocols as the country opens back up.

I recently cancelled August (willl book thru CRO) but still have sept/0ct & right after thanksgiving trips planned. A portion of those points need banked by the end of June. Just couldn’t take chance they’d be wasted.

Depending on how things go between now & then (does the country reopening cause a massive spike in virus etc.?); again, may just bank the points & book something cancellable thru CRO.

Willing to bet we won’t be the only ones in that frame of mind, probably a good chance for others to WL or stalk the website.

MS has been consistent that the use of extended point won’t be started until the first week of June. The points won’t be shown online and it sounds like they have to be manually put into the accounts

I get the sense that they don’t want to do it in a rolling fashion so all owners of those points have the same timeframe for booking. IMO, I think they knew this when they did the extension and that some of those points would never get used because of lack of availability.

I have even read that April UYs won’t have access until that same time and those points expire even sooner.

I’m rather certain this is why I’ve been successful snagging nights at the Grand Cal ... as folks are cancelling/shuffling many plans.

For the past week, I have been checking availability multiple times per day for a late September studio reservation. An 11-night stay came available in a CCV deluxe studio, 8-nights in a CCV studio with walk-in shower, almost 8-nights at VGF, but the third night was missing, and 5-nights in a BLT lake view studio. September reservations are coming available. Securing one just requires frequent searches throughout the day.

We had to cancel March and May trip and will (hopefully!) be going Aug 29-Sept 7. I’ve banked everything that I can/returned borrowed points, but we still had 122 banked 2018 points expiring Sept 30, so I tried to piece together a studio stay that first week of Sept to use them up. I was able to book 7nights across 4 different resorts (GF, BWV, Poly and BRV, as we need studios that sleep 5), with the first and last nights off property (not ideal as we prefer to use magical express). Long story short, after constantly stalking the website for about a week I was able to adjust things and move nights so that we now have the first 7 nights in a Poly standard view studio and the last 2 nights in a BWV studio. There seems to be A LOT of movement lately, and wait list seems useless at the moment, so keep checking!!!

I had some 2019 banked points to use by June 2021, so booked a studio for late January, banking as many June 2020 points as I can, since borrowing may be limited for next year, and we're planning a big 10 person trip for Thanksgiving 2021, and given the family demographics, we'll need at least 2-two bedrooms (hopefully lockoffs) at OKW.

I was working on a nursing contract so rescheduled our May trip to August, then June. Nursing contract cancelled so rescheduling for summer or fall is financially dicey. We are now scheduled for January 2021. Points expire 2/2021 so fingers crossed we have no issues.

Cancelled my November trip shooting for May 2021 since points need to be used by August 2021 : ( On the plus side for some reason January through April right now are wide open ; /

October and November were basically gone before the shutdown. Openings are people cancelling before thier banking date. Some are getting nabbed in waitlists.

Depending on a lot of factors, those bookings may have peril. It's hard to say right now.

Anyone else trying to rebook before the end of the year and not finding much availability?
We had a July trip planned and made the decision about 3 weeks ago to postpone. The only time we could go without having the kids out of school too long was thanksgiving. Not ideal but the best we could come up with. We had 2 poly studios originally and of course that was all booked. So we had the option of OKW and SSR in a 2 BR. I booked the 2BR for a week and actually decided to grab it a few days prior to our desired dates. Each day I walked it forward a day (my first time walking). I'm glad i grabbed it when i did because had i waited the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and thanksgiving were booked up. I know the fall is normally very difficult but i would imagine that this fall is going to be worse than normal.

Hopefully they will cancel soon so you can book something. If you have some points available to you now you might want to book something if you can find some days. You might have to make it an ultimate split stay trip, but at this point we all just have to make the best of what we are dealt. Maybe call MS and see what their plan for cancelling and see what options they can give you. Really can't hurt.

I needed to rebook an April trip. Before the 7 month window opened, was able to switch it to 10 nights in a NH OKW studio over Thanksgiving. After the 7 month window opened, switched it to 7 nights BCV , 3 nights OKW in studios.

During that time frame, I spotted a VGC studio for Thanksgiving, CC for 4 nights after Thanksgiving, ect. Moral of the story, inventory does show up so stalking and being flexible are the key.

We had family renting our points for a June reservation and we rebooked it for August a few weeks ago. Since we had October use year, the points would have expired in a few months. Luckily, they were reasonable and worked with us for a September stay. They had to change to a split stay but have reservations for the full week. We were glad they were flexible so we gave them some free points to fill out the reservation.

We had BCV booked for Memorial week. Found a 1 br at SSR for early October with waitlist for BCV or WLV (refuse to call it BR)

Sleeping in a king sized bed all by yourself is a very nice thing to do (if you don't have anyone to share it with).
