This will be my first visit over a busy holiday. Should I avoid all parks ( any one less crowded) and plan resort day or can I easily rope drop, use 3 fp and have pool time after lunch? Was interested in EMM, do they offer it in July? Thank you for your advise.

Don't know anything about EMM, as I'm an offsite person. However, I love July 4th week. No, you don't need to avoid the parks, at all. The only time it gets really crazy on 7/3 and 7/4 are in MK at night. Otherwise, it's not a big deal. Epcot is crowded too, but the World Showcase is really big, so there's more room to spread out than the hub offers. The parks in the morning on 7/3 and 7/4 are actually pretty light crowds, as many people wait until later to show up, especially at MK and Epcot.

We watch the MK fireworks on the 3rd from the boat dock area outside the entrance. They have fireworks going off over the water as well as in the park. Then we let the crowd thin a while and head in for EMH (which they had last year on the 3rd). On the 4th, we do AK during the day and Epcot fireworks at night. Both parks were only moderately filled

AK is almost always the least crowded day on a Holiday.
That said, I'd never go and NOT see the fireworks at MK/Epcot over a Holiday.
7/3 at MK and 7/4 at Epcot.
Don't let crowds scare you away. Disney knows how to do crowd control and we find those particular days to be very manageable because of it
No idea if they offer EMM in July, I doubt they will on a Holiday date.

Pssst, EMM is the one you buy, so off site can use it too.

Thanks for all the replies. I was starting to rethink my July trip. You’ve help considerably

We’ve done 7/4 week the last two years and I don’t think either 7/3 or 7/4 requires a massive amount of planning (or fear). It’s a really fun holiday. 7/3 and 7/4 at MK and 7/4 at Epcot are the biggies, but other than that it feels like overall medium/moderate crowd summer to me. Longer park hours, afternoon storms, generally more shows/nighttime offerings, etc all really help to spread guests around.

Even 7/4 at MK is ‘easy’ compared to other major holidays like Christmas and New Years. It’ll be crowded, don’t get me wrong - but manageable.

Sorry to hijack OP, but we are thinking of going down for a quick trip then (year of APs) and doing the HEA dessert party on July 4th so as not to be in the masses. I had originally planned for 7/3 at MK, and 7/4 at Epcot but we will actually have to leave at night on the 3rd or early on the 4th to drive down due to hubby's work schedule so its MK on the 4th. @GADisneyDad14 or anyone else, have you done it on 7/4 before? Is Plaza Viewing still a good choice?

Do they offer EMM at HS or MK 7/3 or 7/4?

EMM at HS didn’t exist last 7/4, so no way of knowing what they’ll do this year. I just did HS EMM on 12/31, so there is precedent for it to be offered on a major holiday. If anything, I suspect 7/3 could be an EMM date as they are usually Mondays and Wednesdays (with a few Fridays thrown in this past fall).

At MK EMM where we have 3 years of history to go by, they have tended to skip dates around 7/3 and 7/4. Both dates have been 8am MK openings for the last few years, so not conducive to EMM.

Never know what they might do in the future though.

reports have been way less crowded than october or december, the old "off season."

I think rope drop, 3 FP's, and hang out until it feels busy.............then hit the water. No way would I want to be there from 2pm to midnight (+/-)

We are doing our first July 4th at MK this year. It's a bucket list event for me! We drive in that morning and have the dessert party booked.

We'll book 3 FPs and just roll with it. Perfect time to get in Tiki Room and Carousel of Progress!
