I'll be in WDW with DH and my parents from 5/13-5/20 next year, we'll be there for Mother's Day...

How is the weather? Crowds? My father and DH would like to play golf (we're staying at OKW) while my mom and I go shopping in DTD-- will it be too hot?

And any suggestions on ressies? We usually do breakfast at Chef Mickey's and we're going to do dinner @ California Grill this time.

Thanks!

Melissa

We were there this past may and it was perfect. Great Weather, not much rain. Crowds were not bad at all, they were no where near as bad as when we normally visit (november). You may run into a star wars weekend in that time frame so you'll want to visit mgm on a non-weekend day if that happens (unless you are a star wars fan of course!)

We were there this past May...5/14-5/20. It didn't rain once our whole week, but it was very hot and humid (by Connecticut standards...LOL!). It was in the low to mid 90's and dew point in the 70. Perfect pool weather!

The crowds were very low - we only used one fast pass. We walked right onto Space/Splash/Big Thunder Mountain several times.

Have been twice in May and have found the weather to be great and crowds very manageable.

My dh and ds golf each trip we take now and love this time togather. My husband enjoys the views while playing at Lake Buene Vista becuz it goes all around the resorts, EPCOT in distance and DTD and go thru Old Key West and SSR, but as far as golfing both think Eagle Pines is the nicest course.

They went twice in August and after the heat from the first trip they took two facecloths, the course will pack a cooler for your cart, so they would just dip the clothes in the cooler, roll them and place them on the back of thier necks - said it worked great.

While shopping is a nice way to spend the afternoon have you considered a massage, facial, pedicure or manicure at the SSR Spa, this is so relaxing and they have a ton of treatments to choice from. Also they have a steam room, whirl pool, sauna, gym, Treated mom last year for mom's day - she talked about it all week long, she loved it.

Have you tried Bomas for dinner? excellent buffet, Some of the other places we enjoy are Cape May, LeCellar and Liberty Tree Tavern

Thanks for info and advice! I'm going to tell my dad and DH about the golf courses, they'll be thrilled! And that's a great alternative to shopping (we can never get enought shopping in DTD though!) I'll look into the prices. I'm not sure if my mom likes the idea of a massage though. Great mother's day present, spa and lunch!

I have been 6 times in May since 1996. Generally it will be warm to hot. Only a couple times have the days been iin the mid to high 70's. Most of the time it is in the mid 80's and a couple of the trips it was in the mid 90's the whole time. Be prepared for it to be beuatiful to hot. The evenings are usually awesome. It has not rained much during my trips in May. There have been a couple times when there was no rain. A couple times when it rained a tiny bit during the day and a couple trips where it rained pretty hard for 20 minutes and once when it rained hard for an hour or so.
Crowds are really not a big deal except on a parks early entry day and week ends at the MK.

Great weather and low crowds. May is our favorite time to go because it is not hot hot and the crowds are low.

My mom was alittle nervous about the massage shes 75 and never had one before, didn't really give her much chance to think about it, told her about two hours before we were due at the spa. We had the Mystical Forest Therapy which cost 120.00 (96.00 if you are a dvc owner). If its the first time when yu book request to have a women massuess(sp is way off). You could always start with a facial its probably a great introduction to spas, and you'd still be able to use the hottub and steamroom, they have lockers, changing rooms and showers with use of shampoo, gel, cream rinse, dryers they also supply towels and bathrobes.

I have a brochue from the spa so if you have any questions just pm me, i also think if you can go to www.disneyworld you can download a brochure

Sadiwest- You're so lucky to spend your 1st anniversary at the happiest place on earth! Our 2 year anniversary was just yesterday:-)

Let me know your plans as the trip comes closer! We already are planning on a few reservations- breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at California Grill.

See you there!!

Just keep in mind it will be VERY hot, as well as humid, in May. We know all about heat as we live in SC, but were still uncomfortable at WDW in May. Make sure and take sunscreen or you'll get burned.

Melissa,
I'd email you, but am brand new to this site and haven't had a chance to explore if there's a way to email thru it.
I'm lucky I even found this thread again. LOL

When you have a chance, email me at craftysjw@aol.com ?
Just (please) put something in the title saying you're you so I know! LOL

We can't wait for the trip! Unfortunately, according to my countdown clock, we still have over 220 days to go. But it gives us something to look forward to-our first 'real' vacation together. (we went to AC for our honeymoon)

It's going to be awesome, especially since he's NEVER been there before. Tell me, how do you get to be a 41 year old who has NEVER been to WDW?????? :confused3

Sandi

Don't forget the Flower and Garden festival will be going on at Epcot. GReat time to spend in that park. Don't miss it.
