Tell me all about Teva Sandals

I went to the Teva website based on all of the post from this board. Looks like a great shoe choice for me and my daughter because:

1) I have pretty feet and toes. Nothing worst than hammer toes in sandals
2) I like to let me feet "breathe" in the summer live in MN closed shoes from October to April
3) My daughter thinks it funny that I have the different tan lines around my feet from different sandals daily I am African American so I just get a little darker on uncovered areas of skin

I need more details:
1) How are the straps on the shoes are they comfortable or do the rub against the back of your heel?
2) Which style of Tevas have the most arch support?
3) Did u have happy feet at the end of the day when wearing your Tevas or are your feet still mad at you from the last trip?
4) Which kids style has the best arch support?
5) After I eat my way around the World will the Tevas be able to support the additional weight?
6) If we wear sandal are there any rides we can't get on because of the open toe shoes - I know "Great America" has a policy against open toe shoes on some rides

I am in a good mood today and ready to order my Tevas for my May trip. Watch out World here we come!!!!!! We worn reebok walking shoes last couple of times. Our feet were comfortable but hot ...trip in August.

order those soon! you wanna break them in before you start wearing them for 8 + hours a day!

just be super stylish and wear them around the house for a few days with socks on! heheh (rubbing won't be a problem - the socks will cushion you until the straps 'break in' a bit)

they DO have one with better arch control. The basic $50 Teva is pretty flat...if you look at them online, you'll see how some arch up a bit more. If there is a Bob's Store or Sports Authority or Timberland or EMS store close to you - I suggest going and trying a few on before you commit to one pair.

and I've worn flip flops during entire disney trips and was never denied entry to any ride...so open toe is fine!

I love my Tevas - but I will say that at the end of a Disney day, I put them out on the deck of our hotel room. They can be stinky! LOL! At home, I just throw them in the washing machine on ocassion.

I am buying the river sandals for both my kids for our September trip. LIke I've said before, they are super for rides like Kali River or for walking in the rain!

Enjoy! And I'm jealous about the pretty feet. Mine are gross and big, altho I do paint my toes when I go on vacation! Kinda like Ru Paul!

I got Teva Elixer's which are waterproof suede flip flops. Very comfy! I got them from Sierratradingpost.com for about $20 on clearance. I've seen them for $50 elsewhere. I was a little worried at first but after I wore them a few times, they adjusted to my feet. Sierra Trading Post also has some other styles you might be interested in. Have fun shopping!

Kinda like Ru Paul!

Tevas are great! We wear them at the cottage, in the lake, down by poolside, for walks, on Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain, Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges etc.....

Just make sure you do not get the less expensive flat ones - the arch support needs serious help on those designs

When they need to be cleaned I just scrub them down with a stiff brush and soap and then rinse them off with the hose

They are great - if you cannot wear them all day toss em in a pack and carry around and then switch shoes back and forth for the water rides so you do not have wet feet

I can't wear Tevas. Wish I could. I love everything about them except the arches. I have high arches and Tevas just don't give me enough support. I went to a sporting store to check them out before I ordered. I found that Merrills fit the bill for me, narrow foot/ high arches. They are so awesome. I now wear them instead of slippers at home.

I love my Tevas - I have several pairs and change the design depending on my mood.

I wear mine all the time. As soon as the snow melts I change out of hiking boots and move into my tevas with socks. Needless to say I have been wearing them for a few weeks already.

The straps don’t rub- I stay away from the basics ones though. The ones in the $40-50 range don’t have cushions on the straps so they are not as comfy. The others offer a buffer pad. The rubber soles do tend to get a bit stinky but they wash up nicely in the washer or just scrub in the sink the nylon dries over night. The I have some feet problems and I find them to feel great. I packed tennis for my last Disney trio but never took my tevas off (open to close) 5 park days.

My favorites right now are Terra-Fi, pretty rugged nylon and Circuit Leather. I think I am going to get a Wraptor 2 fro our may trip.

Honestly I prefer Birkenstock sandals for comfort....but the Teva's can't be beat when its wet out, or after riding Kali, etc.... My Teva's don't have a great arch in them though. I started wearing Birkenstocks when I was having foot pain problems that were work related and I got pregnant. I've worn nothing else since then (except my tevas when its wet in the summer).

My Teva's have an extra cushion behind the heel, so it stays in place, doesn't rub and its soft. Some of the styles don't have that...particularly the kids' ones. I've found similar kids sandals that have better support and are less expensive, though. I was about to buy my ds's last pair of Tevas from LLBean and decided to give their brand a try....those sandals have been great and at half the price of the Tevas.

I do want to try some of the water resistant Birks to compare. My only problem with my Birks when its wet is that the footbed gets slimy (foot sweat and water on top of suede...yuck!). The plastic ones should function much like the Tevas.

The only place I've seen a restriction on open toed shoes is when leading the ponies for the pony rides at FW....and even then they let me do it with an extra warning to keep my feet away from the pony's hoofs.
