There seem to be some really good airfare prices and would be cheaper than driving...only problem is we have never flown before. Ever. I know nothing about it much less about specific airlines. Also how far is this airport from POFQ? Thanks!

If you have never flown before this is a great small airport, but it is farther away than you might expect, I would guess 30 to 40 minutes but it could be a little more. I love Allegiant and SFB but no Magical express from there though. Allegiant also has lots of fees so it isn't quite as cheap as it first looks but still a good deal.

I just noticed all of the fees in the fine print. SW airlines starts service from our area this weekend so I will keep my fingers crossed for a GREAT deal!

We like Allegiant & rumors are in some markets they going to fly into MCO. My boss flys into Clearwater all the time he lives by the airport so he goes to the airport to buy his tickets & saves the booking fee. We have never prepaid for seats & not had a problem.

When flying into SFB remember no DME & we have found basically almost everyone is renting a car so we send DH ahead & I get the luggage. The drive is not that much further & no tolls.

I've flown on Alleigant to SFB and I thought it was awesome. Great deal, friendly crew, smooth flight, nice airport, not NEAR as crowded as MCO, we rented a car which was very efficient and easy, no complaints here!!!

The only downfall is that it's a little ways from WDW, maybe about 45 minutes if I remember correctly. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!

Hope this helps!

I love flying into Sanford on Allegiant. We usually rent a car from Dollar and get a pretty good deal. It is about a 45 minute drive to Disney from there. No biggie.

Going to do it again today, yippee!!! We did it in Oct. and liked it so much we are using them again today. While I love Magical Express I like nonstop even better. Out of our airport we do not have any other choice in nonstop so I will and would pay more for it. It is a lot smaller airport than MCO so it is easier to get around.

Allegiant had tried going into MCO for a while but gave up on it.

As far as Sanford, If you use a taxi you are talking about around $100 each way plus tip to Disney World. You can use public transportation for $4.00 each way, but you are talking more than four hours and three changes of bus (the last at DTD to a Disney bus to your resort) while shlepping all your luggage.

We flew Allegiant at the end of Jan/beginning of February. We actually flew into MCO and flew out of SFB as it was the week they changed back to all flights from SFB. It was our first experience with them and we loved it! Super easy check in and security at SFB. For us, it was still cheaper to pay the online booking fee and for one checked bag versus booking on SW or any other airline. Plus, we still saved money even with hiring a car service.

I have a co-worker who is looking at flights this June and SW is almost $600 more for his family than Allegiant!

I just booked a trip to St Pete/Clearwater last night with them. My return flight is out of Sanford. I am glad to hear that it isn't bad. I was able to get 2 tickets for $294. It's a short trip with no kids so we are just doing carry-ons. I'm also not worried about the open boarding since it's just my DH and I so all of that kept the cost down for us.
