I'm pretty familiar with the parks and strategies. I've done WDW Alone and family trips to Disneyland. But I'm taking my first Disneyland solo trip.

Tell me about your solo trips! My flight will land at 9am on a Friday and leave 5pm on a Monday. I have 4 day park hoppers.

Something I've wondered about is I've only seen WOC with a dessert party.. might still do that, but how difficult is a good viewing spot solo without it? Same questions about Fantasmic.

My only must do ride really is MMRR as I haven't been on it at DL and I want ti see the Que area.

I'm mostly looking forward to just doing my own thing without having to navigate everyone else's needs and desires.

I'm staying at castle inn and suites.

I've done solo trips to Disneyland and WDW I enjoy both. I usually do the dessert party for WOC and a dining package for Fantasmic. The only downside of solo trips is there is no one to share food with!

I’ve taken so many solo trips now I actually prefer it! I will do the dessert party every time mostly for the chair. The only downside I can think of is when you are camping out for parades or fireworks you don’t have someone there to save the spots while you go to the bathroom or to grab a snack. However I usually strike up conversations with people around me and everybody has been great about letting me run somewhere and saved my spot. Have a great time!

Ive been going solo to Disneyland California for over 10 years and I love it. Ive just finished the trip report from my most recent visit in June 2023 https://www.disboards.com/threads/solo-from-ireland-to-so-cal-trip-number-13-june-2023.3927506/

I do rope drop to late at night and I don't do the big thrill rides or take an afternoon hotel break. This year I stayed at Desert Inn and Suites as I prefer to be as near to the pedestrian entrance as possible. I do one park per day tickets with Genie+ and I buy Individual Lightning Lanes. I love using Photopass as its included with Genie+ This year I bought a Magicband + and used one for the first time. It was so much easier to use the Magicband to scan into the parks and to redeem Lightning Lanes. I book one table service per day and then just have snacks and counter service.

I usually skip WOC but did the desert party this year as its the new show for Disney 100.

Im not sure what the situation for Fantasmic is, but I would suggest doing Hungry Bear Dining package. This is the cheapest option and you have to eat at some stage in the day, so this way you are getting counter service food with access to the viewing area.

I come down about once a month and I'd say 50-60% of those are solo trips and they are WONDERFUL. No compromising, no stressing over pleasing other people, or any of that. You do what you want at your pace and it's so great. (Sorry family, I love going with them too, but solo is so fun.)

As for WOC, I did the dessert party as a solo traveler for the first weekend of the new show ONE, and it was absolutely worth it for seating (and it was my birthday weekend so it was a treat). I may do it again for the Christmas version, since I've somehow never seen that one. That said, it's not a necessity for every trip. I've heard that even if you don't get in the VQ, there is often some room for standby on the earlier show. But, for the later show, there is a lot more room and easier to get a decent standing spot. So you're probably good to see it either way, but if you've got the funds in your budget for the dessert party, I definitely recommend it.

Can't really answer much for Fantasmic as we have no idea what it's going to look like when it eventually comes back. I actually had a Hungry Bear package reserved for it a couple weeks after when the fire was, but obviously that got cancelled.

To me, there is nothing as joyful as a solo trip to my happy place. So much to be said for doing everything at your pace and whim.

I don’t eat at the parks with the exception of Mickey beignets and Starbucks and the occasional Plaza Inn fried chicken dinner which I usually take to go and have it two days.

Love afternoon naps and then closing the parks.

Yep, it’s paradise.
