So we are having a baby but not for a while. I am not due until December. We have been out looking at baby stuff for the sheer fun of doing it. We came across the Peg Perego Pliko P3 and completely fell in love! As far as I can tell the car seat has the best safety ratings out there. I know we would have to buy the car seat and stroller separately. And I know that it is very expensive. But safety is worth the cost. And we really really like it. I would love to hear some reviews. I have been looking online at some. How has yours stood up to Disney? We do some mild hiking, would this stand up? Will this be the only stroller we will buy? For the price I would like it to be. I am looking at close to $700 for an infant car seat and stroller. Any other thoughts or advice would be helpful. My DS is 13 years old so it has been a while since I have looked at these kinds of things. Thanks!

Also, does anyone have any of their other products? We were really liking what we saw but want to know if they are worth the price. There is a high chair that is also a swing. Looked so neat! But is it worth it?

We have had this stroller since my DD4 was born and I LOVE it. We now have another DD who uses it and it is still in great shape. It is very sturdy. The only drawback is the underseat bag; it is difficult to place big things in it. We bought this stroller with the infant seat and while the infant seat is great and it has great safety reviews, both my girls outgrew them before they were 1 year old. It also gets very hot in hot weather. We then bought a convertible car seat which can be rearfacing.

We also have the high chair and love it. We have the one that ¨swings¨, but I have never used that feature. The double trays are great for when the baby is in the highchair but you want to wash the tray. It reclines which is great when you want the baby to drink her milk bottle comfortably. Some people say their babies fall asleep in it, mine have never done that.

I would definitely recommend both the stroller and the high chair. They are very well built. I bought my stroller brand new in box on ebay for a very good discount since it was last years´print (which I did not mind for like $100 dlls less).

Good luck.

I bought a P3 for my 4.5 yr old niece when we went to WDW in September. I checked quite a few different strollers out and this one was the best for her.

We loved the large canopy and the height (for me and her) she could let her legs dangle and not hit the ground/wheels.

I ordered it from www.albeebaby.com I purchased one that was last years model (2007) and saved some money. The only difference was the pattern and the new parent drink holder.

We are going back in October and the P3 is coming with us!

I bought this stroller to take my 19 month dgd to WDW. It is the best! I don't know where the $700 price is coming from though as I bought only the stroller. It is light, requires only one hand to open and close it, has a tray for snacks (I would never buy one without this feature for anywhere - it keeps the child occupied and calm) I love the swing away tray feature so you don't have to lift the child into it once she is old enough to climb in by herself. the shade is great and my dgd likes to pull it down over her when she wants to block the sun or go to sleep. It reclines into any position you want with ease. I think it is perfect! I know others like other strollers too but my advice is to be sure you have a tray, a reclining seat, a shade, and one handed folding....

I bought my P3 from albeebaby for $199.

Received as a gift the Chicco stroller/carseat combo. I thought that this carseat was top rated??? Anyway, I really liked it, and espcially liked the stroller for the first 6 months with an infant. It reclines flatter than the P3 and the leg rest attaches upward so it makes more of a carriage. Great when they are really little.

Don't forget that most grow out of the infant carseat by 6-9 months. Get a decent one but you don't have to necessarily get the most expensive. My preferred carseat after outgrowing the infant one is the Britax. I just bought a new Roundabout at allbeebaby 2 weeks ago, on sale for $169.

Congratulations!! We too had a baby with a few years in between and have loved every minute of it.

We also have a Peg Pliko P3 and love it! We did not buy the car seat though as it is very expensive and does not have the highest safety ratings (the Graco Safe Seat has stellar ratings as well) - you will do much better for the money to buy a Graco Safe Seat as you can use it longer. It has the highest height/weight maximum on the market, so your baby will be able to stay rear facing in the Graco for longer than the traditional 4-8 months (depends upon size of baby) with a lower weight limit seat like the Peg or the Snug Ride. Although the Peg car seat has true side impact protection on it, it does not have a high enough weight requirement, so for approx. $300.00 here in Canada for just the seat, we absolutely could not justify that price. Our Graco Safe Seat fits perfectly in the Pliko as it comes with a universal car seat adapter strap. Regarding the price of the stroller though - you can't consider it to be $700.00 as that is the price with the car seat. Like I said, the car seat doesn't have a high enough weight limit, so you won't use it for very long, but you should be able to get several years out of the Pliko stroller for sure as it's pretty sturdy. You might be able to sell the car seat if you really want it, and you could probably sell the stroller as well if indeed you need a higher weight stroller.

This is a great stroller and we love the child step on the back - my almost 6 year old still hops on the back! It is lightweight, easy to fold, great recline and has the best canopy! That being said, it won't be your only stroller as it only goes to 45lbs, so you more than likely will have to consider another stroller or strollers, depending upon your needs. We also have 2 Macs and a jogging stroller for our 2 babes - different strollers for different needs.

By the way, we have the Peg highchair as well - it was very expensive here in Canada at almost $300.00 but well worth it, as mentioned above!

Happy strollering, Tiger :)

Um, I'd marry it if it could bring home a six-figure paycheck!! :lmao:

We also have the Peg Perego Aria, but it doesn't hold a birthday cake candle stub to the Pliko. We got rid of our original one (it had seen better days), but I knew I wanted one for WDW (DS doesn't use a stroller unless we're at WDW). The big sway for me was/is the almost flat recline and footboard on the back.

Found a darn near perfect one on Craigslist for $50!! I was sooooooo excited!! Aside from a mark on the hood, it looks like it just came outta the box!!

For what it's worth, I'm a stroller addict (once had four singles and a double in the garage for one child), and the Pliko has won my heart. Now I only have three singles. ;)

I've owned many, many strollers and the P3 is the best all around stroller out there. If you are only going to get one stroller, this is the best choice. The sun coverage for trips to WDW cannot be beat :thumbsup2

We have 13 strollers and that's DH's favorite. It's gone everywhere, including WDW. Altho it won't go offroading you'll need a good fixed wheel air tire stroller for anything like that, many will sell adaptors for the Peg car seat.

We owned a both Peg & Graco infant carriers, the Graco was put to pasture after 2 months what a a difference the padding was nil, my DS's head had zero support. The Peg seat was well worth it all the way around, the newest one's go to the 30lb mark which will take easily thru the 1st year. My DS#1 was 10lbs 15oz at birth and was only 26lbs at a year.

We own other Peg products, a Venezia stroller (was replaced by the UNO), the Dondolino highchair and Navetta every single thing has been washed on many occasions and the fabrics look brand spanking new you'd never guess the work out my kids can give a stroller. I got most of our Peg products thru Albee baby, get last years colorways (they don't change much) and you save tons.

I got the P3 Pliko last summer for my DD (now 19 mos). I wanted an umbrella-like stroller that reclined but also collapsed for the cruise we were going on. I wanted it to be small enough to maneuver through tight spaces on the ship but also to fold up and be put in a corner in our stateroom. I found one on CL for $100. The lady had only used it once! It was in perfect condition :) I love the Pliko P3. The best features are the sun shade, the removable snack tray, and the reclining seat back. Also, the seat is completely removable so it can be washed. It washes up VERY nice. The only cons I have...Basket is difficult to get to, except accessing it from the side. The seat straps/buckle can get twisted real easily, but they are secure and allow for my DD to move w/o being attached to the seat back. And it doesn't come w/ a cup holder. I tried buying a "universal cup holder", but it wouldn't fit. So much for being "universal"!

Oh, I forgot...I'm 5'10, and I don't kick the wheels on this stroller. The adjustable handles are a dream for us taller parents. :)

We've had the Peg Perego Pliko P3 for almost 4 years now and lOVE it! We have the red and black. I sure wish they had the pretty blue color when he was born! LOL! That color is soooo nice!:) We had the infant car seat-carrier too and it was great as well! Good luck on your stroller buying! Have fun and congrats! April

As a "carseat tech" let me say it's hard to "rate" carseats. The manufacturers do not have to disclose their testing other than meeting the (low) NHTSA regulations. Agencies like Consumer Reports really don't know what they are testing or how when it comes to carseats.

Off soapbox.

I had the Peg Primo carseat from my cousin. My baby made it 2 1/2 months in it before she outgrew it. It became very narrow at the shoulders. Into a convertible she went. She was always in a Boulevard in my car since the Peg couldn't be installed correctly in my car. (Neither did several others fit) The Peg is also lined with fabric that tends to make babies very sweaty.

Somebody mentioned the Chicco Keyfit- one of my all-time favorite bucket seats. Very easy to install securely. Even fit in my car.

When my baby got older and I got tired of lugging the Bertini pram around for short trips I wanted a Peg stroller. I ended up finding an old Plikomatic on Craigslist and had a love-hate affair with it. Loved the height, seat size, the canopy (as I was used to a European style) Fold was nice. The raincover built in was great.

Didn't love so much- the under basket/hammock. I really was spoiled by the full metal basket on the Bertini, LOL. The handles- the stroller was abused a bit before I got it and one handle was loose. The steering- was not as easy as I expected and one hand steering was out (especially on the side with the wobbly handle. Maybe the steering was an abuse issue? In the end I yard-saled it, got my $25 back (really what did I want for that?) and ended up getting a new stroller. I did look at new Plikos and liked them, they seemed free of my steering issues, but "Bernard" was soured on the Peg experience.

I love my Peg. I have a p3, red and grey, that we bought when pregnant with DD (who is now almost 4). We have beat the heck out of that thing and its still going strong and looking good. My DD loves to ride on the back while DS rides in the seat. Its a great stroller.

The infant carrier... meh. It was fine, but DD and DS both outgrew it very quickly. My kids didn't have issues with gettign seaty, and they used it in the summer. You can use a Graco carseat, though, in the Peg stroller.

One thing I will tell you- don't get the big giant travel systems. The strollers are of lower quality, are needlessly huge, and when your kid is about 9 months you'll want to ditch it for an umbrella stroller. Skip the heartburn and just start with the peg. I've never felt any urge to move to a smaller stroller becuase the p3 is light and folds small.

The best thing about the P3 is the straps that keep your kid strapped in but allow them real freedom of movement.

Another lover of the Pliko! Definitely look online to get some good deals on the Pliko - you can find them for under $200 new but it might be the previous year. I wouldn't get the carseat though - go with the Graco!

However, if you want it for hiking, I'd say this won't work well. It is kind of hard to push over rough surfaces! You'll really want a jogging stroller for that. If you don't want to buy 2 strollers, I might consider going a different route and consider a jogging stroller as your primary stroller (with the swivel front wheels they really handle very nicely) and then later when baby is out of the infant seat you could always buy more of an umbrella type stroller like a Maclaren for shopping/travel.

My friend has the peg carseat and she says it is very heavy compared to others on the market. This may not make a difference to you, but if you plan to lug it around it may become an issue. She got a maxi-cosi for her 2nd child and is very happy with it.

A Pliko will hold almost ANY infant carseat. Buy your infant carseat separately and don't spend a mint on it; you will only use it for few months. Save your carseat money and spend it on a really good convertible toddler seat that you will use for 4 years. (Really, the Peg infant carseat is just not good enough for what it costs. Pick something else that is a better combination of value for money.)

I'm about to retire my 1998 Pliko; it has developed fold issues and now tends to jam half-open, but it gave me many hard years of service.

On the question of weight, because the P3 *is* a bit on the heavy side for an umbrella-fold, you should know that Peg has just come out with a new lighter version of the Pliko; it is called the Si. (As in Spanish for "yes".) It has single wheels instead of doubles, and no napper bar, though it does include a carseat adapter. The wheels on it are smallish rubber swivels, like the ones on a Quinny. Strollerqueen really likes it, so I predict that it will be very popular.

With strollers and carseats, test in a store (preferably with a borrowed baby in it, and if you can't, go grab two cases of diaper wipes to add weight), but buy online. The tax savings alone will make a huge dent in the price.

For hiking, a sling or carrier really works better than a stroller. We use an Ergo for off-road walking with DD who is 21 months.

Congratulations on the baby!!!!!

We bought a 2007 model last May on albeebaby.com for 1/2 price. We went to our local BRU and checked out every Maclaren & Peg stroller and ended up liking the Pliko P3 best. We use it everyday for trips to the Mall, around town and to Disney. We took DD to WDW when she was 8 months old and she never once complained while in it. She slept in it quite a few times too. The basket is a bit tough to get to, but we bought a stroller bag that attachs to the handles of the stroller to keep frequently used items at hand.

One of the best features for us are the adjustable handles. DH is 6' tall and I'm 5' tall so we needed handles that we both could easily use. Also, it's lightweight (12lbs) and I can easily fold it and lift it in and out of our car.

I would suggest doing what we did. Until our DD was 7 months old, we used a Baby Trend Flex Loc carseat and the Snap 'n Go stroller. Together, they cost $130. The Flex Loc had the best reviews by Consumer Reports and the Snap 'n Go is very lightweight (7lbs) and is all you really need when baby is very young since they spend most of their time in the carseat anyway. The Snap 'n Go's are becoming far more popular lately. I see them all over the place now.

I would also recommend the Ergo carrier for hiking.

I agree w/ looking for last years model, you can even find them occasionally on returnsforsale.com they are closeout models not actuall returns. Ebay also has some good prices on new older models. I also agree w/ not spending a fortune for a infant carseat and invest the money into a good convertible like the britax marathon or decathalon. I have an older peg highchair and it is truely worth the investment my MIL had a cheap fisher price highchair that had similar features but the quality of the peg is much sturdier and again you can find them on ebay new for a good price but an older model.

There are many new infant seats that go up to 30lbs or 32lbs - the new Peg Primo Viaggio Sip actually does (here in Canada we are still at 22lbs, hence my last post) and so you can use it for longer than the traditional 4-5 months of other 22lb infant car seat maximums.

As I suggested, the new Graco Snugrides go up to 32lbs or Graco Safe Seat up to 30lbs (or other comparable car seat - we have different models here in Canada) will take the average baby at least up to 12 months, perhaps longer, depending upon size of baby. This will allow for extended rear facing past 12 months too!

Just wanted to let people know that a lot has changed with infant car seats over the past few years, and so there is no reason to buy infant car seats that only have 20 or 22lb maximums anymore. That being said, the Peg Sip car seat has great specs, but it is very pricey as compared to other car seats on the market - here in Canada it is almost $300.00 and never goes on sale, whereas my Graco Safe Seat which has higher max limits here in Canada, goes on sale for $160-$170.00 every other week. That's a lot of money!

HTH, Tiger :)
