Tell me about your Mystic Tan

In preparation for our trip next week I went to Mystic Tanning today. It's not tanning in a bed it's spray tan. I have a skin condition that has permanently banned me from the sun so I thought I'd try this (to keep myself from being blindingly white in my shorts). I wanted to know what you all thought of it. Did you like it? Does it look natural? How long does it last? Did you get streaky or orange? I can see it's just starting to show now...I'm wondering how much darker it will get. I will be so happy if it looks like a normal tan...I so miss the sun (bad, bad girl). It was really expensive though...$35 for 1 session. I will only do it for special occassions.

Around here you can sign up for multiple treatments that end up being closer to $10 per treatment, so check around if you do like it.

When I have done it, I have found the key to my happiness is exfoliating well beforehand, and using A LOT of that lotion they provide to block the spray around my feet and fingers. The rough spots on my feet would turn kind of orange and if it got on my cuticles, my hands looked DIRTY otherwise. Not pretty!

Also, be sooo careful about what you wear between when you get it done and when you shower next because it rubs off on your clothes something awful.

I am super-pale and have been happy with the color, sometimes going twice after about 24 hours to get a little darker. Once I went 3 times in one week, and that was a bad idea for me.

I have done it before--people assume I'm ill because I'm so white. I've been happy with the result for the first few days, however, it really sloughed off in a strange way on my shins by day 4 or 5. Even though I exfoliate and moisturize like crazy to prepare, I still get weird crocodile-like looking skin on my lower legs. I just started using the Jergen's graudal tanning moisturizer and really like that. Far less margin for error and alot cheaper that Mystic Tan. Oh, and a word of warning...you can't go into clorinated water with Mystic Tan or it comes right off immediately. I was told this when I had it done, but didn't really believe it. I learned the hard way that the experts are experts for a reason.

I paid $35 for 1 treatement but it was their package (it came with all those lotions and aromatherapy stuff in the spray so it didn't skink and aftercare lotion). This is the only place in my area that does it. I really didn't want to spend that much $$. I had called ahead to get a price and they'd said it was $17...but then when I got there she said it was $30 for the package that makes the tan last 4 days or $35 for the 7 day. I had never done it before so I was confused and went with the 7 day. I'm glad I went but I feel kind of ripped off. :sad1:
I was going to go again next week right before we leave.
