Just curious to know how you dress on the morning of your Disney run?

Depends on the weather....

If it's cold, which is different for everyone ;), one less layer than you actually think you'll need 'cuz you'll shed that one once you warm up.

I think it has to do with your pace and running speed, that is the rate your body will generate heat (or not).
Personally I like to run in a singlet and shorts, so like to wear a garbage bag until the gun goes off, or even run in it until I get too hot.

Good luck!: :goodvibes

As already mentioned, depends on how cold. Up here on the North Coast for the really cold weather, I'll have a scarf around my face if it is 30-ish degrees, with my tights, tank top, LS shirt and running windbreaker. Cover that with a jacket. I will sometimes take the jacket and tie it around my waist. Always a head band and sometimes gloves. For running events the layers will be throw-aways.

I like to add I need gloves and pockets - in my pocket - KLEENEX! Honestly running in the cold makes my nose run! Hate that!

I like a hat, scarf, polar tech is lightweight and warm!

I guess I should add...."For yor Disney run"... oops...

Last year for the half, I wore a running skirt, tank top and then a throw away shirt. I really wish I had brought some throw away gloves.

dh is going to the hardware/walmart/type store and buy the $1 work gloves (hopefully without the rubber nubs!!)

for some reason I was able to find the $1 stretch gloves I bought for '08!!

If the temp will be above 45 the only thing I would wear is a pair of shorts. I might wear a garbage bag before the run to stay warm but that is the temperature at which I don't wear a shirt. Most of the time the WDW marathon weekend is warmer than that.

I think your pace plays a part too. You run in 1:30 range which you will generate more heat than some of us that may be out there 1 1/2 to 2 hrs longer than you. Just my take.

Plus you are from cold weather state which makes a big difference too.

Plus there are a lot of small children present at the parks and i would not like to scare them with my "winter white tan" if I ran without a shirt. :rotfl: And while there is a lot less of me than there was a year ago, still not at that stage of my fitness to run without a shirt. I prefer to make sure I have my Nike Pro compression top on to combat "the jiggles and wiggles".

For bottoms...compression shorts, LiveSTRONG running shorts, Wal-mart $5 fleece pants for waiting in the corrals.

For tops...Sleeveless compression, long sleeve Nike Pro, LiveSTRONG Dri-fit short sleeve top, possibly my running jacket if needed, and my Wal-mart $5 fleece top for waiting in the corrals.

Also my gloves, headband, and iPod.

I'm sure pace and where you are normally running has a lot to do with it. Even on very cold days I am ready to shed layers after a mile or so. It just depends on each person's body.

If the temperatures are as predicted (in the 40s) to start, I'll wear the same as last year -- running skirt and sleeveless running top covered with a throw away sweatshirt and probably a pair of gloves.

For the marathon, I'll also wear a visor to keep my sun off my race. I'll forgo that for the half since we won't be out in the sun that long.

But I agree that everyone is different and it all depends on how quickly your body heats up. It is very normal for me to go out early in the morning (before the sun is up) when its in the high 20s and have on a pair of tights and long sleeve running shirt. I'm cold at the start but by the middle of the run, I'm comfortable.

Like everyone said, it depends.

For the Goofy last year I wore a throwaway sweat suit to the start but shed that before we started. I wore the same stuff for the full and the half.

Visor (more for keeping sweat out of my eyes), sleeveless shirt and shorts. To keep warm for the first few miles I wear $1 gloves from Home Depot and arm warmers. For the arm warmers I bought tube socks and cut the toes out of them. They were great for the first few miles and I could just toss them once I got warm enough. Although I wore them for the entire half.

Probably go the same this year. If it is much colder I might wear a throw away long sleeve shirt.

For the LV race a few weeks ago, where the temps were in the high 30's I wore a lot more. So, if Disney is that cold I'd pretty much wear the same items. I had on shorts and long sleeve running shirt, running pants, not tights, running jacket then a throwaway jacket over that. Gloves, hat and ear band thing to keep my ears warm.

I ended up wearing the running pants, extra jacket, gloves and ear warmer the entire race. I did unzip the jacket in the last couple of miles so the photographers could see my bib :)

enjoy,
Duane

I heat up quickly. Usually within a mile or so I can go down to a shirt/shorts regardless of outside temperature. For pre-race I will swing by the finish area and grab one of the mylar blankets you get when you are complete. The volunteers are usually setting up by then and they will gladly give you 1 or 2.

I'm a walker and as a short (up to 10K) race guy, it takes me a long time to warm up when I'm doing long distance pace. I didn't shed my throw off gloves and long sleeve shirt till mile ten of the marathon last year. The plus side is no matter how hot it gets I don't feel to hot.

This morning it was 17 degrees when I went out to do intervals with one of my walkers. I had 3 shirts and a jacket, shorts and running pants and a cap. I never warmed up even with the flat out intervals. I went and bought a watch cap to cover my ears on wed when I go out again.

I shop the sale racks and you can usually find flannel long sleeve shirts there for a couple of bucks.

If things stay the way they are, I'll probably wear my running skirt and T-shirt, and baseball cap, with a throw-away sweatshirt. If it looks like it will be on the cold side, I may add throw away pants, but that's not usually necessary. Even thought I run slowly, I warm up FAST, so will probably shed the sweatshirt as soon as we really start moving, or whenever the sun comes up (whichever comes first)!

I am debating whether I run with the geeky fanny pack like I usually do for long runs. Probably will - it's like my security blankie!
