Oven died last night. I would love to replace our oven/microwave built in with a double oven.
So which one do you have and what do you like/dislike about it?!
Thanks

I love my double oven .. love it.. but i dont think they make them anymore.. i bought mine 20 years ago and have a smaller top oven and a full size bottom oven. When i bought mine Sears was the only place that had them. Currently, the top oven is limping along.. i would replace it but the ones i have seen are not true double ovens but 2 little ovens on the bottom.. like a pizza oven and then another oven.. not 2 ovens..

if you find one let me know ..

I don't know my model number but I did the same as you. Replace my micro/oven combo with a double oven. Mine is built into a cabinet so I have very limited space and selection available. But I really couldn't live with the one small-ish wall oven.

Mine is GE, the top is a regular oven and convection oven and the bottom oven is just the regular type.

I like them just fine. I would have preferred one of the more "gourmet" units but they wouldn't fit in my space.

My parents just bought a house with a type of double oven I haven't seen before - it's divided vertically instead of horizontally. The only problem is that the smaller side just *barely* fits a standard 9 X 13 pan with straight sides. If the sides taper out the slightest amount, it doesn't fit at all. Otherwise, it's fantastic and I'm very jealous. I think it's a GE?

When we remodeled our kitchen 2 years ago I put in double ovens. I have Bosch and really like them. I have a reg/convection on top and a reg oven on bottom. The only issue I've had with mine is the clock runs slow. I have not even used all the features of my oven not even the convection. I need to sit down some day and read all the directions on how to use the different features.

i want one so bad!!!!! but we need the type with a stove top as well.

we've been looking at them but our problem is we are limited to propane only (cost to add a 220 line for the dual fuel is insane), and i realy only want a double with the smaller portion on top (which is available through several companies). dh and i were salavating at one of the wolf ones-but they are the top end of the non professional appliances so we were looking at $4000 prior to tax, delivery and installation (with propane you have to get a licensed propane installation):scared1: yeah-not going to happen.

our neighbors have the double oven like you are talking of-they got theirs after MUCH research from the GE profile line. they bake ALLOT and love it-esp. the built in meat thermometer where you program in the type of meat/how you want it cooked-and the oven notifies you when the meat has reached the desired internal temp:thumbsup2

p.s. even with a double oven i could not function without my microwave. i've become very fond of the flash defrost mode, and since i've mastered it i've found we save on our food budget (no more lazing out and running for fast food based on the excuse of having forgot to defrost something). my kids also use the microwave allot-and i suspect that even if i could convert them to using a traditional oven for their purposes, my energy bill would cost allot more (and that's been one of my justifications for looking at the higher cost double ovens, the energy efficiency of heating the smaller one which would get the bulk of our use).

I replaced my double ovens a year ago when the original one died. I bought a mid-range GE model, in white. The top is a full size regular/convection oven and the bottom is a full size regular oven only.

Mine are built in to a cabinet as well. I was able to buy a standard size, though. I like them fine - rarely use them both at the same time and only occasionally use the convection part.

What I really wanted was the model with the French doors instead of the standard pull down, but they were much more expensive. Maybe next time...
