I posted this on another board but I am not getting many replies. Tell me about Video Now Jr. Do you like it? Is it worth it? My DD is almost 2 and I want to get something for our plane trips/car rides. I wanted a mix max (because it is Disney of course) but the movies are too old for her. The only place to download Disney shows is Itunes which I have been told is only for Ipods. So that won't do what I want it to. So now looking at the Video Now Jr. It seems to be a good price and I have a code for hasbrotoyshop.com for an extra 25% off.
TIA :goodvibes

My DD's both have one, and only use them on plane rides. They're a nice diversion when they start getting bored. I've found they eat up batteries pretty fast, but if you're only using them occasionally, they are worth it in my opinion. I'm not sure if there are any Video Now discs your DD would be very interested in. Most of the ones I've seen are for older kids (my DDs are 9 and 6). Not too long ago, Target was really getting rid of their Video Now inventory. They were selling the discs and players pretty cheap. I was able to pick up a couple accessories, too - basically blank discs you can put your own videos on. We haven't recorded anything on them yet, but that might be an option for your DD. Try Ebay, maybe. You might find some younger-themed discs on there.

We have two VideoNow Jr.'s and give them two thumbs up. Ours don't get as much use these days as when we first got them, but it's just mostly because we forget to take them along. They've been lifesavers for us at doctor's appointments. I was just thinking the other day that I need to remember to get them out for our Disney trip in January. They are very sturdy and toddler-proof and easy for kids to use. For the younger set there are Clifford, Sesame Street, Blue's Clues, Dora, and Wiggles discs. If you have trouble finding discs, try eBay.

Oh, and I have heard a lot of comments about how they eat up batteries. True...but we have switched to rechargables (actually for most of our kid's toys with batteries). The battery charger has been a great investment.

I completly agree with JillyFish. DS has one and he is 3 and a half. It takes a beating! It still works perfectly after being dropped a hundred times!LOL He really likes watching his shows on it. I think the 2nd poster was thinking of the regular video now, DD had that and there were older kids shows for it. For the JR we have Dora, Clifford, and Blue's clues. I would also try Ebay for the discs.
We don't take it for WDW because we fly on JetBlue. Gotta love those TV's!!

stick with a portable DVD player. This is the best kids toy they make for trips.

I know but aren't they bigger to carry around? And they are more expensive too.

Yes and yes.
ETA - I found one that looks like it's about the size of a VNjr - but it is still more expensive...

BUT - you can put ANY DVD in a regular one. You have to buy the disks they have for the VNjr and the selection is pretty limited.

Also - when we borrowed a VNjr from friends for a trip - DS just kept pushing the buttons - they have them right on the front where currious kids can push away - resetting the disk - forwarding it to the end - etc - which just made him mad. He wanted to push those bright colored buttons, but got upset because the show was over all the time. sigh
BTW - it was in the carry case, so the buttons were covered a little bit.

Didn't the OP say her DD was almost 2? At least with the VNJR there would be no worries of her breaking it or dropping it. Also, she said it would just be for plane trips/car rides. With the VNJR she could hold it herself and easily learn how to work it on her own.

Video Now Jr has a short shelf life (kids seem to out grow the stuff quickly) but for that time frame they are the best. The kids can not damage them like the real dvd player. We liked ours, but we let grandma buy it.
