I am looking at booking a package for the 1st time ever. I have always just done the room only and booked myself with a code. However that doesn't look like it is going to happen this year! :guilty:

So I am thinking of doing the disney dining package through AAA. They have quoted me $119.00 for the trip ins. She said it just went up to $ 59.00 per adult.
AAA is only saving me $150.00 since we are staying at a Value resort plus I am then paying $50.00 to join AAA and then paying $119 for trip ins. so all that makes me wonder if I am just better off with rack rate and without the dining plan!! :confused3

What does the trip ins. cover? Can you still cancel and what kind of money are you out? I don't intend to cancel and we have already gotten airline tickets. However with spending this much money on a package it scares me! And also with children anything can happen! Last oct. my 5 year old had pnemonia!
I've just never dealt with trip ins. before and am looking for some info.
Thanks so much!

I don't think your AAA insurance will cover you if you cancel just because
you change your min,d but if DS or any family member is sick it should cover
that. I just booked a AAA package too and got the same quote, however it
looks like I can get a better price at insuremytrip.com

I used them this past Christmas for my Disney land and sea trip. Their
quote was much less than Disneys. They offer lot of policies. Check the
coverage and compare the prices. I am planning on going with them this
time too. Remember to get your insurance quickly after booking your trip
to include any pre-existing conditions. Many policies give you about
14 days.

The trip insurance is probably not AAA insurance, but the plan that Disney offers. That's what I purchased, and its cheaper than the AAA insurance because the kids are included at no additional cost.

If you go to Disney's website, I believe there is a flyer you can download in Adobe that has all the information you'll need on the policy.

I also was uncertain about trip insurance, I went to Insuremytrip an online web site they compare all insurance and coverages with definitions, it also gives you quotes where you can compare coverage and price. Although I have been to Disney many times and have never bought trip insurance these hurricanes they're having are making me think twice. When I booked I chose not to get the insurance and the disney rep told me if I didn't get it then I couldn't get it later, I was going to buy from my insurance agent anyway so I wasn't interested, but when I received my info from Disney, within the package was info on purchasing trip insurance. Because I booked my flight on my own, the insurance would only cover the Disney portion and not the airline.

So did I. I don't really understand anything but car insurance, lol. But for our family of 6 to fly to WDW in AUgust, I think we need ins. I am a little confused. I thought most visa's and amex, if that is what you paid with, included vacation insurance. I just cannot seem to find out WHAT is covered, lol. I just want to know if, a hurricane hits, Continental will penalize me the $100/ticket to fly another day. If so, would vacation ins cover that?? Even the vacation ins through credit cards? Do these have deductibles? There is sooo much wording to sift through.

Arrggh, so confusing!

Well thanks for the info so far. I will go and look on disney's site and see what I can find about it.

I don't plan on just changing my mind. But I just want to be covered if one of us becomes ill and can't go or if there would be a death in the family.

I just never knew there was so much involved in this! That is when I get frustrated and think maybe I don't need the dining plan this bad after all!!

If anyone else has any other adivce or info feel free to fill me in! Thanks!

msmayor : I went to Disney's website and looked around for trip ins. info and couldn't find it anywhere. Do you have any ideas where I could locate it? I did a search and still didn't find it. Thanks

Hello, I had a few of the same questions about insurance. It does depend on each company of course...but maybe you'll get some basic answers.
I went to google and did a search for "what does trip insurance cover" I found a few articles...
check out tripinsurancestore . com and look at the faq

Hope this is helpful to you. :smooth:
