Tell me about Trails End buffet!!

Hi There...

You know that expression "You get what you pay for" ? That's how we felt about Trails End. It is the cheapest buffet in WDW, and it shows in the food. That said...It is not horrible, but just not good either.

FW is a wonderful place to visit either way.:wizard:

I'd take the launch from the Contemporary. It's really easy-breezy from there.:thumbsup2

Our family likes Trails End. We usualy do it at least 1x per trip. IMO it's one of the best bangs for your buck at WDW. There isn't anything fancy here, just your basic's, plus a decent salad bar, and chilli section. Yes the desserts are limited but that's ok. It is a rustic environment here but we like that. It's easy to get here from MK, just take the boat, depending on the roatation (if FW or WL is the 1st stop) it doesn't take to long to get to.

... It's easy to forget sometimes that even at WDW, a restaurant can have an off night. Reading all of the good comments on here, has gotten me thinking about it again.... Hmmmm...... could be this is another of those moments when I forged an opinion too soon :confused3 ;) ;) ;) .
Lisa,
I think we've all probably had bad experiences at a restaurant and not gone back because we also forged opinions while we were there. Reading about the experiences others had at the same restaurants on this board we may be inclined to give it one more chance. If you do I hope your next visit is more enjoyable.

Thanks Melsmice, I am definitely going to try to get there for a meal then, I love spending time at the Fort :-) I'll let you know when I get back what I thought, Ruthie

Yeah but Ruthie is coming from the horses which are at the front. Take any internal bus from the outpost (the big bus stop by the horses).

They all have the same final destination, the Settlement. Thats where Trail's End is..

Thank you all for your help, the map helps too I get so caught up with the horses that I forget about the rest of the area. I'm going to just take a day & spend some time all over the place investigating and relaxing , Ruthie
:thumbsup2

We're definitely in the minority here. We tried it last year and absolutely hated it. It was much less expensive than any other buffet at WDW, very true. And, there were several dishes which classify as "comfort food". Those 2 reasons are why we tried them. We thought the quality of the food was very much a let-down. Most of the food on all 4 of our plates was left and we ended up leaving and going back to eat at the food court at the Contemporary. Yep, we did pay for our entire bill - they provided all they promised, we simply didn't like it, no we did not take it out on the server - it's not her fault we didn't like the food.

Then again, we stopped going to the LTT about 3 years ago because we didn't like the food there much either.
If you go, I hope you enjoy it, it's always great to find a good value for your family at WDW. :thumbsup2

Is it the same brand of food? We didn't care for the Stouffer's mac n cheese and some other things at LTT. Just curious because I was thinking of adding this in for our next trip.

We thought it was very similar to that style of food. It's more of a personal preference than that anything is wrong with it. Like I said, it may be fine and we just went on an off night. Oh, but even after I talked to DH and showed him this thread, he says he doesn't want to try it again (neither did our son), they compared it again to LTT, so.... :confused3

This may be OT but I have been trying to figure this out. There is a "Take Out" dinner at Trails end. It is listed on the menu here on dis. If we are on DDP, would this be considered counter service? Has anyone purchased the chicken take-out? Thanks. We are arriving kinda late and thought this may be a good option since we are staying at WL. Sorry to be OT.

I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge and was thinking about trying the Trails End Buffet. Is it a must to have adr's for this place? Which should I try, breakfast or dinner?
