Tell me about the refillable mugs

I've never stayed in Disney before, but in May we are staying at the Pop Century for five nights. From what I've gathered a refillable mug is a mug you buy for a certain amount and then you can get that mug filled with whatever drink you prefer at the food court for free---am I correct???

The mugs cost about $12 plus tax. You can get them refilled with soda, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and lemonade at the food court at your resort. It's definitely worth the money if you are a big soda or coffee drinker, and a nice souvenir to bring home.

We drink alot of pop, so for us it is always worth buying the mugs.

Also at the Pop Century you can refill your mug with either a blue raspberry icee or a frozen coke, mmmmmmm.

They are open from like 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. or thereabouts (hours subject to change) and you get unlimited refills. None of the rooms at Pop are very far from the refill stations either so it makes it easy.

Also, I agree that it makes a nice souvenir. they have two different sizes the "souvenir" mug looks fatter and won't fit in a car cup holder and the "travel mug" is taller and skinnier (and holds abuot an ounce more beverage!) and will fit in most car holders.

Have a great time!

I love my refillable mugs! I have 2 and when I use them at home they remind me of WDW!

JC Butterfly was correct in all they said. You get refills, just from your resort, for your entire stay.

We used 2 mugs for our family of 4. Saved a little more $$ that way. Have a great trip.

A counter-point to the mug program. The mugs are great if you want them as souvenirs when you get home, but for the drinks alone I don't think they are worth it. The three biggest negatives are: 1) Depending on where you stay, the food court can be a long long way from your room so they're only convenient at meal times, 2) If you're not a fan of Coke products, you're outta luck, 3) When you've got 4 or 5 in your family the cost adds up.

We usually have a car with us, so we now stop on the way to WDW and buy several cases of the drinks we like for a small fraction of the $50+ it would cost to buy mugs for my family. The drinks are in our rooms and easy to access.

I have mixed feelings about refillable mugs. If you want to buy it and take it home as souvenir, it's not a bad purchase. For the benefits of free refills or a budget item, you could do better.

You also need to consider what your plans are like. I stayed at the CBR in late August and the only meals I ate in OPR were breakfast. I like to drink juice or water with breakfast but that isn't an option at the food court (using your mugs). I also found that the coffee there tastes like motor oil on most mornings and that it leaves a pretty bad smell in your plastic mug. Now I did drink a fair amount of unsweetened ice tea but hardly enough to justify the cost of my mug. Water is free at most locations at WDW (unless you drink it bottled).

If you just want to be reminded of WDW when you pour your coffee at home, look for the more interesting mugs in the parks. You can always use that and just pay per drink.
