I was watching a vlog of a very recent cruise and they had the pirate night buffet. Unfortunately, it was super crowded and chaotic and she only got a crepe.

I did a search but all the threads were just that it was back, not so much details.

Can you all tell me about it? When does it start, right after the fireworks? When does it end?

Is it just desserts? I saw another thread mentioning Turkey legs?
thank you!

I don't know what the current buffet situation is but pre-covid it was generally after the fireworks. Remember pre-covid there was only ONE time that fireworks were done and that late evening after the second show time was over. Usually, pre-covid the buffet would be after 10:30 pm. It used to have all the fixings for tacos, nachos and I did think it had some turkey legs in the past but I can't recall fully. It was definitely a good feast and something different.

I have yet to sail with Pirates Buffet since covid restart so I don't know what the current situation is like.

Thank you!! I found some more information and it sounds like what you describe. I was confused because I saw some things about it being just desserts, but now I see the tacos and all kinds of things. DH is very excited about have second dinner. 😂

In our experience, the Pirate buffet has always been chaotic. Most of the guests are on the top decks for fireworks. A lot of them move towards Cabanas at the same time. Even with both sides open, there isn't a lot of room to maneuver, people cut in line and all the tables are taken if a few seconds. We do not enjoy the stressful nature of the situation and now skip it.

We just got off the Dream last week and I'm not sure exactly what time it opened, but we went a bit after the fireworks. I can't remember what our server told us, but its only open for a little bit....an hour at most. Like previously mentioned, it was very chaotic. We just got a dessert or two and got out of there. There seemed to be a decent amount of food. Not as much as Cabanas breakfast/lunch but I remember seeing pizza, sandwiches....plenty of other choices.

We were on the Dream last week and just happened to watch the fireworks not far from Cabanas. We headed in when the fireworks were over and were some of the first there. We sat on the crepe side and that is what most of us got (and ice cream) but one person in our group ventured around and got some tacos. We had late dinner and it felt like we had just eaten so we didn't need very much. The ice cream in Cabanas though, yum!!!!!

Pirate buffet was available during our late April cruise. Nothing has changed. It’s still crowded and chaotic My daughter went but that’s because she headed that way before the grand finally ended. we avoid it.

Can anyone confirm but I believe pirate night is the only place and time one can find tacos on a cruise correct ? What does Cabanas have it at times for lunch?

there was one day on the 7 night fantasy where there was nachos on the lunch buffet….dont remember if tacos was there, but it was choose your own toppings. It was similar to the top your own baked potatoes. It’s usually near the meat carving area.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. DH won’t mind the chaos, but DD and I definitely will. This sounds like exactly the type of thing I’m trying to avoid by cruising. I’ll save the lines and chaos for our August Disney World trip!! 😂 Maybe DD and I will go back and order room service.

I don’t recall anyone posting this but the one thing that is interesting is looking at how they carve fruit in pirate themed characters. Like they’ll take a whole watermelon and make a pirate out of it. So for our first sailing so I went through the chaos just to get pictures but I was so stuffed from our late dinner I didn’t eat anything anyways but I just wanted to see the artwork. On our next cruise I might deal with the chaos or just get in line before they open just to get tacos. Or we will coordinate ourselves that we skip the dining that evening and just do the Buffet then. That was always the issue for us is that no one was really hungry ! but as ex-pats living overseas sometimes you just wanna have that bad junk food like turkey legs and tacos. In fact I’m willing to miss out on the fireworks and just get in line early for tacos!

Still is. I sailed May 21-28 and we had pirate night buffet...it was just as chaotic as pre-covid.

Just got off the Fantasy 6:11 sailing and they had the buffet after the pirate show/fireworks. Extremely chaotic. Taco and crepe bars at opposite ends with some desserts in the middle. It’s insane how chaotic is was but if you were lucky to snag some door and a table it’s fun for a late night bite. Only one side of cabanas is open for it.

Are these like taco bell tacos or like street food tacos?
More taco bell I woud say, hard shell. But when you are an expat in germany where they think mexican food should taste more like asian sweet/sour sauce. You take what you can get! I was happy

Didn’t see any fruit sculptures this time like I have in the past. Crunchy tacos with ground beef and cheese and tomatoes and lettuce to add.

It was very busy on the Hawaii to Vancouver sailing on the Wonder. Everyone pounced on it at once, but really only for the first 10 minutes or so and then it cleared out and was much more mellow. I'd suggest being the very first, or very last people there.
