tell me about the partial hook ups

We're planning our first trip to FW in November. We will be staying in a 12ft travel trailer. We plan to stay in one of the partial loops because we don't need sewage. Tell me about each of them- including the pros and cons of both. Thanks for all your info. I'm amazed I ever visited WDW without the help of the DIS boards.

We stayed in the 2000 loop last summer, pros were it had spacious sites, two comfort stations, we had a golf cart so not too far from anything, and it was closer to the pool near the cabins which we actually preferred as it was not as busy as the meadow pool. For our upcoming trip, we requested a site in the 1500 loop primarily to be closer to the action since we may not get a golf cart this time. The electric and water hook ups worked fine in 2000, I believe we parked the camper on a sand pad which was fine for us. the full hook up loops I believe have a longer paved area.

for us, we don't typically use full hook ups so the cost savings of the partial hook ups is worth it.

I've stayed in both loops. 2000 sites are more spacious, more out in the open (as opposed to shaded) and you have the benefit of two bathhouses. You are a little more set off from the core of the Fort (main pool, Trading Post, movies, etc) so it's peaceful.

1500 Loop has fewer sites which are generally not as big, heavily shaded, and shares a single bathhouse with the 1600 loop. You are across the street from the main pool, movies, Trading Post, etc..

All in all I prefer 1500. Especially any of the sites on the outside of the loop (as compared to the inside of the loop though I would take those too over any 2000 site). At this point with kids, I like the walking proximity to the pool and campfire/movie. Some sites like the one we had in 1500 on Thanksgiving Week 2009 back up to the canal which give you a water view as well.

It's your choice - there's no wrong selection because both are great but that's what I'm thinking right now

Thanks for the info. I'll be glad to check with the alumni office and see if there is anything I can do for him. I know at one time there was a reference form I could turn in for prospective students- maybe that would help. I'll check and let you know.

I agree with what everyone said.

I love Loop 1500 for location, but some of the sites have trees in weird places and some can be rather narrow.

I tend to stick with 2000 as I would rather drive the golf cart a bit further and be guaranteed a site that will fit my stuff.

I tried 2000 last year as opposed to many trips staying on 1500 in the past, wanted to see how the 'other half' lives.
This year have requested 1500 again. 2000 definitely has the benefit of the larger spaces, two bath houses and a bit 'off the beaten path'. But I did find without a golf cart it was just a little bit farther to the Meadows pool and campfire. Although I did have my bike. Also not sharing a bath house with 1600 seemed a little less busy, although 1600 is a full hookup loop folks tend to still use the bath houses.

Now having second thoughts, hmmmm.....it is a tough choice between the two, after all you are at the Fort and any place at the Fort is better than no place at all!

1500 if you want to be close to the action, 2000 if you prefer a little bit more quiet with fairly close access to the pool at the cabins sorta sums it up.

No to both.

Ft. Wilderness answer to emptying your grey water from the partial hookup sites is to call the front desk and they will tell you the number of the closest empty full hookup site where you can dump your grey water.

Other folks solution (and mine) is to take my small grey water container to the comfort station and empty it into a toilet. I do the same with my portapotty.

I just spoke to Jasimine at the front desk and she assures me that there is a dump station that those who use the partial sites without sewage and have portable waste tanks. I asked her where on the map was this site, and she asked me to call back after lunch and she would find out for me.

Any thoughts?

Carol, I just re read the thread. I think maybe the question was, was there a "honey wagon" that went around to sites to do the emptying. And I assumed she meant a dumpstation. do you know where on site the dumpstation is for those who have portable waste tanks and need to empty part way thru their stay??

Sorry for assuming, we all know what happens when you do this!

If Carol says there isn't one, there isn't one. I have looped The Fort countless times and never seen one either.

The Fort DOES NOT HAVE a Dumpstation. Never did. The official answer is to call the front desk and they will give you the number of an empty full hookup to go dump.

Seems reasonable to me. The nearest empty full hookup site is probably closer than the dumpstation would be at a typical campground anyway.
