Tell me about the Kindle or Nook

Does anyone have either of these products? I'm very interested in getting one but I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to.

After the intial purchase of the actual reader and the individual prices of the books, do you pay a monthly service fee just for the wi-fi and such?

There is no monthly service charge. The cost of wireless access is built into the price of the books/magazines/newspapers/blogs.
