Tell me about the Kim Possible Missions

Originally I was going with the theory that the kids don't know about it and therefore will not miss it. Now I am thinking though that they might enjoy it if we have time to fit it in (WS is the last of our to do's so we'll be skipping it if we run out of time at Epcot). I know where you start the mission but I really don't know anything else about it. Does it have you running all over WS and does it allow you time to do other activities (like the boatride in Mexico) or would we have to do the mission separately from exploring WS?

Good question! I want to know too. Can you quit whenever you want? What are the missions like? We have a 9 and 12 year old. Would they both be the right age or just the 9 year old?

The clues are not in the same order that the countries are laid out, which I see as a huge drawback of the game.

Count me in as someone who would like to know too! :wave2:

My 10yo grandson watches Kim Possible on the Disney Channel and is excited about playing the game at Epcot.

Ok..first, it may be that your kids don't know about it now..but believe me, they will!! They will notice the Kim Possible CM's and will want to find out more - so if you have KP fans, prepare to do a mission or two.
You'll go up to one of the KP carts and get a FP that you'll use in WS to get your Kimmunicator. Each mission takes place completely in one pavillion...so either you'll be doing it all in Mexico, or France, etc...one hint...if you want to be in a certain area...when you go to pick up the device, say you've done all the missions except for....(you may be able to just request, but last time we were there, the CM asked if we'd done one before and we said yes, Mexico...he gave us the device, I said, "I hope it's not Mexico again" and he said it won't be..that's why he asked us).
At the end of the mission, the fnal step will be to drop the device into some sort of recepticle....if you get fed up and don't want to continue, I'm sure you could just turn it back in at one of the stands. I didn't time it, but it seemed to take about 15 minutes to complete a mission.

Our 12 and 9 year old girls along with our 6 year old boy loved the Kim Possible mission when visiting this past June. The clues are a great combination of interesting facts and fun discoveries in each country - Highly recommended! As far as I remember there are various drop spots in the World Showcase where you can end the missions.

We did this last year with our 6 year old son and loved it! Each mission is located in a different county at Epcot and there are several different clues to find within each County. There some pretty cool things that happen when you find clues (for instance water fills up one of the rooms in England, the phone has a really cool thumb print scanner in France). We got our phone too late in the day, but I am told if you get one early you can do more than one mission at a time.
The phone has the KimPossible characters tell you what to do with some picture graphics as well. The premise is that you are fighting the bad guys with kim possible and helping her save the day. My son totally bought into it.
One downside is that there is usually other families doing the same mission, so you want to stay a little ways away from them our the surprise after finding each clue will be spoiled.
Once you are done with the mission there are secret drop box locations in each country for the phone. I thought these were just as cool as the mission itself.
The activity let us see more of the Country than we ever noticed before...it was definitely worth it.

The clues are not in the same order that the countries are laid out, which I see as a huge drawback of the game.

Each individual mission takes place in ONE country...maybe you mean that if you decide to do another mission it could be a country at the other end of WS?

I have never done it but I thought that you picked a country to play the game in. You find all the clues in that country. If you want to play multiple times, you can pick another country with a new set of clues.

If you don't specifically request it, or tell them that you've done the others, they will randomly select a country for your mission. But, yes, once you have a mission, all the clues will be in that one country.

Yes, when you finish your mission, it will allow you to pick another country, or leave your device at the drop box.

We just did this 2 weeks ago & it was a blast! I'm not sure what the OP means by "The clues are not laid out in the order of the countries" - you stay in the same country for the entire mission - you're not running all over WS, that would be nuts! You can start & stop at any time (even if you're not finished) and you can do it as quickly or as slowly as you like, there's no time limits. So you can stop & do the boat ride in Mexiso & Maelstrom in Norway if you want (we had snacks in Germany!)

First you go to a KP cart to get your assignments - you can be surprised or choose which country you want. We split up - DS9 and I, and DS12 and DH. We specified that we didn't care what countries we did, just so we had different ones. We wanted to see who could finish first. We got Mexico. The Comminucator devices are like fliip up cell phones & there is a help button if you get stuck. Getting their assignments & Communicators outside of Norway (there are about 4 KP stations in Epcot):

The missions take anywhere from 20-45 min. You go to the country that it says, then it gives you clues such as "Go to the Casa del Oro store & stand by the parrot & click "OK." There is also a picture of the store you're trying to find. When you click by the parrot he gives you another clue. For example, when we clicked by a pinata in Mexico it set off the volcano at Cantina San Angel & made it erupt. So you're totally interacting with things in the countries that are there already.

When you're done you can choose to quit or pick another country. There are drop boxes in each country if you're done. We chose France & off we went!

Here's a pic of how interactice this is - this is a book shelf display at the library in France - when you are playing KP a laser light comes on the regular display with the next clue:

We also had our picture taken by the Eiffel Tower on one mission. We only did 2 missions the 1st day but my kids both begged to go back to Epcot another day just to do KP missions!

We did it with dd last year (6) and she had no clue who KP was. I really didn't think it would be fun but it was a blast. We did China and Japan. It took about 20 minutes each country. We will definitely do it again.

If you only had time to do ONE MISSION and it was with a 7 year old girl, pleae advise me which country to choose and why............ thanks:)

My 12 year old did every country mission available on his Kimmunicator. I think there were maybe 6??? He had a blast. It took about 20-25 minutes per country and we did follow him around so our country touring was a little different this trip, but the activity really made it fun for him since he's outgrown the mask making. Glad he did it, he might think it's uncool next trip, so at least we got to see what it was all about! Lot's of fun!!!

TaraPA I cannot thank you enough for your detailed answers about KP. I just read your post to DH and we are SO excited to take our 12 and 9 years old boys through a KP mission.:goodvibes

We did this yesterday. One country turned into 4 before I convinced DD7 that no, we really did need to leave and she could do the other countries on our next trip. :goodvibes When we picked our kimmunicator up, the CM asked us which direction we were headed and programmed it for the next available country on our route. It was a hoot how involved DD became, she had no interest in anything other than finishing her mission. On some of the activities people would have us repeat an action like making the steins sing in Germany, because it was fun to see what happened. We also saw a good number of other families doing their own missions, and had some kids come up and ask us where they could get their own kimmunicator. It wasn't hard at all to select another country after finishing each mission; the whole experience is very user friendly.

I think our only complaint was that DD has no idea who Kim Possible is, it's a great concept but I think it would be even better if it was tied to a character who's popular now. One of the CM's said he wished it was a Phineas and Ferb attraction, somehow incorporating Perry since he's a secret agent and all. Now that would be awesome! :thumbsup2
