We're planning to go to WDW June 2017 this same week. If you are there now I would love to know how the crowds are and what the weather is like - I know it's HOT but are you getting the Florida afternoon rain?

We have traveled in February, September, October and December but never during the summer.

Thanks!

Here now. This is our first summer trip. In the room to cool off before going back out tonight. Been here since last Wednesday. First few days were very rainy, but not much over the weekend. We have ponchos, but those made us just hot and wet. I'd rather just be wet, so ditched those. A little bit of rain this afternoon. EXTREMELY hot and humid. Bring personal fans, cool towels (like Frogg Toggs) and drink lots of water. Plan to go to the parks early if you can so you can take afternoon breaks in the room or at the pool.

We were there last week. It was hot, mid-upper 90s with very high humidity. We had afternoon rain several days, along with the tropical storm. We don't do ponchos, we do rain jackets (mine and hubby's are Columbia, the kids' came from the camping section at Walmart), and definitely Keens or similar shoes that can get wet. The Keens were hands down the best thing we had on this trip, as we had rain almost every day. Not solid days of rain, but rain.

We're heading down on Thursday and it'll be our 6th or 7th trip there during June. Yes, it's hot. Really hot. And really humid. You just need to plan and prepare for it. Stay hydrated, find air conditioning. Storms can be hit or miss. We've had trips where it rained at some point in the day 7 out of 10 days, but on our last trip, we lucked out...in 16 days it only rained once while we were in the parks, all the other rain was middle of the night.

It's hot, but we were prepared so we endured! There were times it seemed the crowd was crazy and other times it was just what I would expect. I was grateful for our lengthy sit down lunches to cool off. Be prepared and you will be just fine.

We are driving home today. We had 6 days at the park. Our last 4 trips have been in October with exception of the January runDisney trip. We would much prefer the October crowds and weather although we were prepared going into this trip.
Rope drop every park day. You will get so much done.
We used our ponchos probably 4 times. We are glad we had them.
Although several lines were posting at 1-2 hour waits we were able to use FP+ to ride all the headliners. We never waited more than 30 min for anything and rode the big rides multiple times.
If you go in prepared, you will be fine!

We just returned from our first summer trip June 5-13. We are from Texas so I had some idea of the heat, but it was VERY HUMID!! Be prepared with water (free water in the parks!!), cooling towels/fans/misters, change of undergarments and/or clothes at your midday break, ponchos, sunscreen.

We were there June 4-12. We typically go in October and early December, but this was a trip with extended family. So summer it was.

I was super pleased with the way the trip went. Thanks to lots of planning, rope drop every day and smart use of FP+, we didn't wait in any line for more than 15 minutes. We rode all the headliners multiple times. And because it's a family favorite, we probably rode Buzz at least 20 times throughout the week!

We're going back in October, and I'm very much looking forward to my lighter crowds and slightly cooler temps. But it's good to know we can go in the summer and have a great trip. My niece and nephew are just 12 and 8, so I suspect there are more summer trips in our future.

I'm here now. It's currently Wednesday June 15th about 2 pm. I have a few minutes to respond as I'm waiting at the exit of Kali river rapids. I hate getting wet. But I decided to go on with the family because I always skip it. But I bought a poncho and decided to be a team player and go on. Well guess what, I got SOAKED! The force of the wave knocked off the hood and water got all down the back of my poncho and I was drenched. Definitely not as much as if I weren't wearing the poncho at all. But still. Momma not a happy camper. And now waiting for the fam as they do a second round while I sip on this tasty refreshing beer. But I digress....

Anyway, we arrived Monday the 13th. Yesterday was our first full day in the parks. It was HOT. There's no other way to put it. We were at HS and Jedi training was brutal. Dripping sweat. Pop up shower around 4:30 pm. Did not bring any relief to the humidity.

Amazingly today has been pretty good here at AK. I kept hearing it's the hottest park but we've only been in the Africa and Asia sections today and there's enough tree cover and a slight occasional breeze to provide some relief.

Crowds are very manageable. Waits everywhere but I saw TSMM down to 35 mins at one point yesterday (thanks third track!). In the peak of the day today family went back on Kali with 40 mins reported wait time.

Every day in the forecast leading up to this trip has had chances of rain everyday and the percent chance had changed constantly. So just know it will be a factor but when it comes will be anyone's guess.

The heat has definitely taken a toll on our tempers and stamina. Plan accordingly and you will be good. :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm hearing plan, plan, plan, drink lots of water and be prepared for heat. Sounds like a great excuse to eat my weight in dole whips. I'm feeling a little better now about our plan to go next June. Our oldest goes to high school this year so we're trying to avoid pulling her out of school.
