I am thinking about taking a long trip and switching in the middle-
I might not have a car on the day of the switch.
How do you deal wth luggage? Any other tips/suggestions/comments

Just take your bags (or have bellservices pick them up ) and they will transfer them to your new resort.

Then before heading to the parks go and check-in (7:00am is when it will be in the system) this way when your bags show they will know your checked-in.

Very easy and just a bus ride or 2 depending on where your switch is.

Thanks I'mNoPrince- Do you tip the bell staff who takes your bags- and then when you get to your resort (the 2nd resort) are the bags waiting in your room (a'la M.E.) or do you have to pick them up from bell services.

We switched twice on our last trip and it was very easy to do. Have everything packed, call Bell Services and tell them where you are going. They then gave us a ticket (I think) and a time frame of when to expect them at the next resort. We then left for the parks for the day and upon returning to the new resort, called BS again to have our stuff brought to the room. Naturally, we tipped each time they picked up our bags and again when they dropped them off. We had about 6 or 7 pieces (not all full suitcases), so it was well worth it for us not to have to lug them onto a bus!!!

Usually we like to unpack and stay put, but because we extended our trip at the beginning and again at the end we needed to switch. Actually we didn't mind it at all and it was a great way to see different resorts. We had never been to WL and we LOVED it!!!

:)

I've done it several times. I have Bell Services get my bags around 8 in the morning. I tip them about $1 a bag. Then, I head off to a park. I go to the 'new' resort before lunch, get checked in. If it's a DVC villa, then it usually isn't ready. So, off to another park or a bite to eat or the pool.
The thing to remember is this...it can take until late afternoon to get your bags delivered to the room. I have yet to have my bags before 5:30. So, if there is anything you are going to need...swim suit, change of clothes....be sure to have them in a bag that you don't send over. If it's something you don't want to cart around, then you can always get a locker for it at the park. But, I've gotten stuck with no bathing suit, mid-day in the high 90's, hugely high humidity. I was sorely tempted to just buy a new one in the gift shop!!

One other suggestion is that if you have perishables, make sure they're packed in such a way that bell services can refrigerate them for you (and make sure you point them out to the bell person as needing refrigeration). :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies- sounds painless. I am a new DVC owner and have only stayed at my home (SSR) I want to try the other resorts but it is breaking my heart not to go back to SSR on our trip- so this way I can have my cake and eat it too! (If I can get a 7 month reservation elsewhere, that is!)
