I'm not looking for spoilers...

I just need to know if it's the kind of movie I can watch tonight alone and still fall asleep. Is it just gory or is it scary?

It's been a while since I have seen it, but I don't think it was scary at all. Just gory.

Great movie but very bloody. It is not scary, just bloody and dark. The music is great. My teenage daughters love it! Once again, very bloody, lol! I would watch it before bed any day!

It's SAD!:sad1: I can't say more without spoiling, though.

Thanks! Gore and blood I can handle.... sadness I can usually handle. I don't do scary. LOL.

Appreciate it :)

I get a lot of anxiety over movies (even for some regular network TV shows I have to get up and walk into the other room ;) ). I never watch horror movies and am easily bothered by violence (even basic battle/fight scenes) and tense moments. When Sweeny Todd came out I assumed it was a "scary" movie and that I would never be able to watch it. DH recently bought the DVD and we watched it. It is very bloody, but I really enjoyed it and have watched it several times since (once with our older DD and once my grandmother spent the night and we watched it together... i figured she would enjoy it since it's a musical :rotfl: )

Bloody and gory, not scary at all.

But warning...you will have the songs stuck in your head all night!!

So true, you will have the songs stuck in your head for days!!! Love, love, love, love the music! :lovestruc

Cartoonish gore and two hours of my life that I will never get back.

But it is not scary in the least.

I loved it. Very gory, but not scary. The music is fabulous. Johnny Depp has an amazing singing voice!

There's some gore and violence, but it's not too much. Johnny and Helena are so good in this movie.

I loved it too, saw it during my last Halloween marathon of trying to scare myself silly. It was dark, and a bit gory but in more of a Quinten Tarantino over-the-top way than a Exorcist I-can't-turn-the-lights-off way. Somehow the awkward musical side of it took the edge off, maybe because the singing was well... let's just call it a questionable decision, it didn't seem to belong in a horror film IMHO. Even so it was very entertaining to me:thumbsup2

It was dark and wacky and the music was great. I personally loved it!

Its not gory in a way that is disturbing. Its very cartoony almost in some scenes.

I"m not really into musicals but loved the movie. I'll echo everyone else and say it wasn't scary at all but bloody. The gore is so over the top it goes from gross to comical at many spots so I don't think anyone will have any problems if the fake blood doesn't bother you.

I can't handle scary things at all, and I was fine with it. I just found it really really sad. And now I've got the urine song stuck in my head :rotfl:

I hope the OP comes back to tell us if she liked the movie!

I hate scary movies too. With this one, you know when it is coming. Just fast forward.

After dd13 performed in a caberet show of the songs of Stephen Sondheim, ds12 asked to watch it. I loved it! Yes, it was bloody, but I still enjoyed it.

My daughter and neice LOVE that movie! They're both 14. I got freaked out by the furnace scene at the end, but other than that it was fun and the songs are great! :thumbsup2
