Tell me about staying on the second deck?

I find I like deck 2 over 5th. Also noticed less movement of the ship in 2. And I’ve had entire week unable to use decks 4, 9 & 10 because of weather, so I really had some waves! I was on deck 8 on a larger ship through another Cruise line but I really do like the lower deck better.

I’ve only stayed on deck 2 once- it was the only cruise I had a difficult time sleeping.

I seem to be one of the only non Deck 2 fans but that may be because of our location (which I believe was right over the crew cabins). I am a very light sleeper so around 2am / 3am every night there was VERY loud music playing that woke me up. Everyone else in my family could sleep but I was up all night. When I called to find out where the music was coming from I was told I was over the crew cabin and it was most likely from crew blowing off steam after getting off shift and there was nothing that could be done. It really was not fair to ask them to stop unwinding after all they do work very hard all day. From that point on I'm just careful that I don't book above or below crew cabins, kid clubs or nightclubs.

We LOVE the second deck porthole rooms on the classic ships. We LOVE it. We stayed there for a two week PC, and have stayed there for several 7 day cruises. We like the back third of the ship, close to the stairs/elevators. It is quiet, the view is great, and the access to just about everything is perfect. One floor up to lounge, atrium, restaurants, etc. The elevator to go to the top decks is right there. I can't think of a single drawback. You might think the second deck is low, but consider it is much higher than many yachts of the world, and they have great views. We also usually prefer porthole rooms if the price is really different, because we can easily find a quiet deck chair to sit in and watch the view (as well as people), and pocket the extra $$.

We LOVE the second deck on the classic ships (back ⅓ of the ship).
