Hello,
I notice that Song air is offering a flight from LAX to MCO for $290.70 round trip. Sounds like a good fare to me, but I have never flown with them. What experience have you had with them? Do they gate check strollers?

Me & DH just flew them in April. It was a great flight each seat had a TV in the front headrest which was really nice. I wasn't too sure about flying them, but it was great & so was the price.

We are going to Disney in Oct. & we will probably be flying Song again, because they have the best rates.

I'm not sure about the stroller check in.

They do gate check strollers.
My family has already flown them twice, with another trip in 2 weeks. We've been very happy with them, no problems at all.

They are owned and operated by Delta, so I have more confidence that if there was any problem (overbooking, mechanical delays, weather) they would be better prepared to handle it than Southwest or JetBlue.

Delta has announced they will be cutting back on flights starting in Septemeber, but that more than likely means from cities where they have multiple flights. From Boston, this summer they had 6 or 7 direct flights every day, to and from. Last winter they cut it down to 4.

I regularly fly Song from LAX to MCO. I like them, and I'm a regular with Delta, so that helps.

But your $290 fare? Just wait a while - it'll come down at least to below $240, and maybe below $200. When is your trip?

Whenever we stay at the MCO Hyatt we see a constant stream of Song coming and going. They must be doing pretty well!

I flew Song LAX-Tampa nonstop for $178 r/t in May and had a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone. I brought my own food along, but what they had on board looked fairly tasty if you don't mind the expense (most things were $6-7). One suggestion if you do fly Song: they provide ear buds, but I found them uncomfortable after about an hour, so you might want to bring along some inexpensive headphones with the small size plug on the end.

Cigar95, In your experience, $290 is too high? Maybe I should wait then. We want to depart 4/29 on the red eye and return 5/7. Those are weekend flights. Will that effect my rate? I hear they may be cancelling some flights after January.

Mom, I don't know if I'd call the rates "too high" - that's a relative term, and whether or not one is willing to pay it.

But from my experience, it's *very* likely that fares will come down sometime after the first of the year. What you're seeing is kind of like the "rack rate". If you wait a bit, you'll find that "code rates" will probably appear. (See, it's all just like finding discounts at WDW hotels!)

If you fly frequently, you may be able to reserve now, and get a voucher when/if prices drop. That voucher will be good for a year from the day you receive it.

(But this may not work if the discount fares are web-only fares. If the phone agents can't see them, they can't apply them to your reservation. I was recently able to get a voucher for my September trip to WDW on Song, but couldn't do it with a United flight to New York in October.)
