Tell me about some of the healthiest meals you had a Disney

I do what I call gut eating while on vacation. I follow a low-carb, lean protein diet at home and I usually can keep on it at Disney.

For me breakfast is actually the easiest meal to eat. Eggs and fruit. Lunch if it's a CS I'll order a sandwich with the fruit side then eat only half the bread. TS's I let myself trust my gut--yes I'll eat fries. :rotfl: But only once every other day--I need to balance.

And the last two trips I only was up about 3 pounds, a couple of days back on routine and I was back to normal.

I can't remember if other CS spots have the lemon juice packets, but Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavillion at Epcot definitely has them. If you want to bring your own, there's a product called "True Lemon" that is a little envelope of crystallized lemon, no sweeteners. I add that to my bottle of water sometimes.

We also pack the new "Crystal Light to Go" packets. They're very small & are the perfect amount for a water bottle. I especially like the Crystal Light strawberry "engergy" packets b/c they give me a little boost towards the end of the day without extra calories.

Some of the restaurants we enjoy that we can eat healthier or at least lighter options are:
Tusker House for lunch
Tokyo Dining for Sushi
Sunshine Seasons has some decent selections
Kona has some good fish selections

I had a very good Tuna sandwhich on Oat nut bread at CHH and my DH had the hummus. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I am on a weight loss journey myself right now. I'm down 28 pounds (with another 20+ pounds to go) and I don't want to blow it on my vacation.

We have a lot of character buffets planned. Last time we went I LOVED the fruit. Had lots of it at the buffets. So my plan this upcoming trip (since I did overdo it last time!) are veggie omelets. Salmon at CP is sooooo good! Load up on veggies. Not to over do the carbs. They KILL me. So limiting the potatoes. Try them, sample them but not have a mountain of them!!! ;)

I think for me it's easier to eat healthy at the buffets because I have a choice of lots of things. At a sit down place there are usually only 1-2 meals taht are healthy and it's usually not something I want. :confused3

At CS places my plan is to not get the fries and get the fruit and/or veggies for sides instead. I will steal a fry or two from DH and the kids. :rotfl: I can handle that but if I get them myself I will eat them all.

I don't drink soda anymore so plan on getting water at all my meals.

I will treat myself but I don't want to gain 10 pounds!!!! :scared1:

My DW is a healthy eater, and she loves the Fresh Mediterranean Market restaurant in the dolphin for breakfast - buffet style menu includes fresh juices (fruits, veggie, detox, wheatgrass, etc), cereals, granola, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal - they also have an omelette station.

Wow - that sounds fabulous!
