We are visiting DLR in July 2017 and my little dude would love to do Jedi Training. What is the sign-up procedure like at DLR? I know from a WDW trip in 2015 that it is pretty competitive there (and he was too young to do it), but need some info on the best strategy for DLR now that he is old enough.

I haven't done it yet, but from what I hear, you head to Innoventions/Star Wars Launch Bay and look for the Jedi Training Academy signs. Just sign up there. They don't get snapped up right away, but you should be there in the first 90 minutes to get a spot for sure. Again, this is just from what I've been reading. Hopefully the experienced will give you some first hand info.

From our recent experience : We entered the park on a MM day. We had been advised that they do 1/2 the sign ups during the MM time and then open the other 1/2 of time slots at general park opening.
If this is a "must do" for your child I would recommend getting there first thing to sign up. And remember your child needs to be with you at signup. As in you can't sign up your child if he/she is not with you.
Our kids really enjoyed participating and I'm glad it's now done with sign ups and not just random selection.
There are PhotoPass Photographers that take pictures of the show / performance.

We went first thing in the morning. No problem signing up as there are a lot of slots. Child must be with you as they ask the child questions to see if they will follow directions. As long as it's your first thing in the morning, you should be fine.

Where is the Jedi Training sign up?

Thanks!

Excellent! Thank you!

This summer we went right when we got in the park, very close to opening time, and we had our choice of every time slot. We then rode autopia and when we were done we saw they were still signing people up.

Thanks for the info. My grandson is still a year away from being age eligible, but I know he'll have a blast doing it.

Does anyone know how long it is?
I think the "Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple" is about 20 minutes.
Arrive about 15 (?) minutes before the training to the same place you signed in. When you sign up they'll tell you when to return.
Don't forget to bring your time/participation "receipt" with you.

Does anyone know if the kids need their park passes when they check in? I was thinking my wife could take them to register while I go get a FP. But I can't do that if they need their passes.

If they are in the park with you / your wife, they do not need their park pass to sign up for the Jedi Training.
The child / children just must to be with the adult at the time of signing up.

And you are free to go get FP's with their park passes ! ! !

Were you able to choose a time that worked best for you based on what was available or were you simply assigned a time? Thanks!

How strict are they with ages? My son will be 3 years and 10 months old when we are there...he is as big as a 5 year old and at least as mature as a 4 year old...

We did this while my hubby took our park tickets and grabbed Fast Passes for Space Mountain. It worked perfect. When the masses are going straight thru towards Space, take a left and go up the stairs and cut thru the restaurant seating and you'll come out ahead of the masses. :) We were maybe 10 back in line and still waited 20 minutes!

We went right at early entry and were the first to sign up. By her 10:05 check-in time, all spots were gone for the day.
