We've never been. Wondering if we should give it a try for our October visit? We have had Yachtsman, and found it to be good but have gotten better steaks back home! While I did enjoy LeCellier, I actually preferred our steaks at Brown Derby, Cali Grill and Citricos! We have Flying Fish planned (never been) and Narcoosseess(return visit), hoping to get into Morimotos and Boathouse as well. Its a trip sans kids this time so we are taking advantage of the better places to eat! (We had our fair share of "meh" last month w/ the kids LOL).

I've also come across a coupon for Shulas, 20% off I believe...which would make the cost more digestible :) How's the Service? Food? Portions? Been to S&D before, disliked the atmosphere of BlueZoo if that makes a difference.

THANKS!

We enjoy Shula's. It has an elegant, steakhouse feel to it, if that makes any sense. With the proclivity of sports memorabilia, I don't find it overly stuffy. The service has always been wonderful. You're usually served by 2 or even 3 people. Portion sizes are huge, but they know how to cook a steak. Very simple preparation and they bring around the cart to show you your options. If you are used to Ruth's Chris or Morton's or other similar steakhouses, you won't be overly impressed because I think they're comparable (in a good way!). But, if you don't frequent steakhouses that often, I think you'll be impressed.

Our Ratings of Shula's Steakhouse: (*rev 3/10/2015*)

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Lobster Bisque
. . . entree:.. Steak Mary Ann (their version of "Steak Diane", although not prepared table-side)
. . . dessert:. Chocolate Souffle, Key Lime Pie
.
NOTE1: Shula's is at the Dolphin Resort, thus a little inconvenient unless coming from
DHS or Epcot. The eatery is not owned by Disney as Shula's is a chain. This eatery does
not disappoint for meats/veggies, but we find the lobster and salmon to be slightly below
par for the reputation and price of Shula's. Be aware that Shula's is pricey. But, the portions
are large; the wife and I always split entrees. We patronize only five eateries at WDW, and
three of the eateries are not owned by Disney. Shula's is one of our favs, along with Il Mulino
and Todd English's blue zoo.
.
NOTE2: Our opinions of non-steak at Shula's:
. . . Mahi-Mahi - especially blackened, highly recommended
. . . Florida Red Snapper - huge, tasty, recommended
. . . Salmon - pass it by, instead, go to Artist Point for Copper River Salmon (mid-May thru early-June)
. . . French Cut Chicken - give it back to the French
. . . Australian Lobster Tail - tasty, but not outstanding
. . . Maine Lobster - whole lobster is whole lobster, average
.
NOTE3: If you are older, like the wife and I, some waiters may think, "Older, smaller tip."
We had this experience this year, and the lack of service was highly noticeable. Younger folks
around us got great treatment, but ours was so-so. We didn't even get our favorite waiter,
"Perry".

Been wondering about Shula's also what sides come with the steaks?

No sides with the steaks at Shulas everything is Ala Carte. That said the sides are huge and easily shareable.

The Tripadvisor pictures look absolutely scrumptious! I think we shall eat there after Fantasmic :) We can just take the boat, right? Thanks so much guys!! Yummmm!

1) ALL food sides are ala carte.
2) However, with a steak, you do on-the-side get,
. . . plates
. . . knives
. . . forks
. . . spoons
. . . napkins
3) But, as mentioned, the sides are HUGE and can feed 2-4 people comfortably.
4) MrsRustyScupper and I usually share the steak, and still have meat and veggies in a doggie bag for home.

:cool1:

NOTE: When at Shula's ask at the podium to NOT have Thomas as your SERVER. We prefer "Perry", but the others are just fine. However, we have had TERRIBLE SERVICE by "Thomas" on two separate occasions. We told the Food & Beverage Manager for Swan/Dolphin about the lack of service, and that if we ever had him again, we would walk out and go to McDonald's. YES, HE IS THAT BAD.

Definitely agree with Rusty about rating an A for the food and an A for the service. We've dined there for the last 5 Disney trips and love it. The twice baked mashed potatoes are really good for a side and the apple cobbler is heaven. I always order the petite filet (8 oz) which is not separately featured on the menu but is part of their surf and turf duo.

Shula's is one of our favorites...and we are steakhouse people. We love Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille and we enjoy Shula's just as much, if not a little more. And they compare well to the great local steakhouses we have here in Charleston. (Never been a fan of Morton's and haven't been to McCormick & Schmick's enough to judge.) Food and service are excellent, but you do pay for it. They are very accommodating with the kids - my kids are great eaters and Shula's will split an adult salad for them, as well as a full-portioned steak, they'll even split a bowl of soup for them. The sides are family style...two will be enough for a family of 4. And don't skip dessert! :)

Its OK, but I wouldn't go back. My standard for steak houses is 801 Chophouse in Omaha and I've been spoiled.

I agree about not going back. Not worth the price, my ordered medium steak came out rare, sent it back, came back medium well to well, ate it anyway because rest of the family was almost through eating. Side (double baked potato, lobster mac & cheese) were ok, nothing to write home about. Waitress (don't remember her name) not very personable, person that brought bread/cleared our dishes and hostess much nicer.

Trip before we went to Yachtsman, next trip that's where we will go back.

I haven't been to Shula's but we were planning to go on our first trip to WDW. I printed a $50 coupon from Restaurant.com. I just checked and the Orlando restaurant doesn't have a coupon available right now, but it might be worth checking before you go. They add coupons all the time.

Step right up..... :).

A little background - Sandy and I are DVC/AP, we go to WDW twice per year, 12 years so far. As usual, ALL of the following is our opinion - not gospel....

We LOVE Shula's, and consider it to be the best Steak House on WDW property. Getting there is a SMALL challenge, on the busses - when we do this, we go from WL to MK, then grab the BSD (Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin) buss. This can take a while -we allow a good 90 minutes.

Shula's has EXCELLENT Steak. Restaurant is very "old school", with a GREAT staff. It is "football themed" (in fact, the only ORIGINAL menu was PRINTED on a football), linen cloths on the tables, lots of Oak, and Frank Sinatra background music.

That football theme is VERY IMPORTANT, as it extends to the offerings. If you forget everything else, remember this: PORTIONS ARE SIZED FOR LINEBACKERS. HUGE salads, steaks, sides, and desserts.

Now, that's not a bad thing - one just needs to know how to WORK with it. A Salad is a salad. An Entrée is JUST the entrée. "Sides" with an entrée, with very FEW exceptions, should be SPLIT between two people (give your waiter a chance, and he'll likely SUGGEST this). Want a baked potato? You are not going to BELIEVE how large a baked potato CAN be delivered :). Desert? My son once asked for the cheesecake - for himself. I tried not to laugh.... as expected, he got about 1/4 of the best NY Cheese Cake on earth :). SPLIT a dessert between two people - the very BEST one is the Molten Lava Cake, made fresh :).

Our typical order....
1) Caesar to start, one each (and this is one VERY GOOD Caesar). DO NOT CLEAN YOR PLATE :). Well, at least WE don't :).
2) 12 Oz Filet, one each, medium rare (it's ALWAYS been perfect, and the waiter will NOT leave until you cut it down the middle and offer approval - they illuminate this with a small flashlight). ONE side of grilled asparagus, split between the two of us.
3) ONE Molten Lava Cake split between the two of us.
4) The complementary Hand truck to deliver us to the curb (OK - JOKE) - Seriously? You will simply NOT leave hungry - and you may not even get out the door before you book your NEXT reservation: it's that good.

Shula's is a TRUE Signature. They take TIW, they do NOT participate with DDP in any form. Our typical dinner, two people, runs about $250 with wine & 20% tip.
As this restaurant is NON-DISNEY OWNED, it may be booked via EITHER Disney, or DIRECTLY.

Its OK, but I wouldn't go back. My standard for steak houses is 801 Chophouse in Omaha and I've been spoiled.

We lived just over-the-border from Omaha (Red Oak, IA), and "801" was decent place for meat.
