Tell me about Shula's and kids

I made an ADR for us at Shula's. DH saw the menu and really wants to try it. I thought about signing DD up for one of the kids places during this dinner, but I don't think she would stay at one of those. She's really shy. So we plan to take her with us. They told me when I made the ADR that there is no kids menu which is fine, she won't eat much anyway and I'm hoping she can share something of mine.

My question is are they going to frown when we show up with a four year old? I think she will do fine during the meal, we've taken her nice places before and she usually does really good.

No one will tell you that you can't take her, but I think the very reason they mention "no kid's menu" is to discourage, but nicely. They also offer the kid's club visit at those hotels for free when dining at one of their nicer establishments for this reason. I believe Shula's does charge a plate sharing fee.

There is a $10 sharing charge. I thought a poster said the restaurant doesn't have any booster seats or high chairs. DOUBLE CHECK. The restaurant discourages kids.

Shula's is VERY upscale. It might be on Disney property but it's not a Disney restaurant so the normal rules don't apply. On a scale, it's higher than any Disney restaurant except Victoria and Albert's.

You might want to check out the Yachtsman Steakhouse menu. It would be a good alternative to Shula's and absolutely no problem with your daughter.

Yes they will frown, will probably tell you again that there is not kids menu and might go as far as suggesting the kids club...have we seen kids in Shula’s, yes, many times....if she is good in restaurants then you should be fine...You’d probably get a better reaction for an earlier reservation...they will also charge you for sharing like people mentioned...

No, they do not and will not frown. They have never mentioned or suggested the kid's club to me when making the reservation or upon our arrival. They have high chairs and have always offered them to us. I don't know about booster seats because we've never asked for them.

We have taken our children several times, the most recent when my daughter was 16 months and my son 7 years old. The staff has never been anything but friendly and accomodating to them.

They never charged us a "sharing" fee when our children did not order an entree. Adults yes, but not the children. We do order sides and appetizers though, so I guess it's possible that has something to do with it.

Shula's is an upscale steakhouse, yes, but the WDW location still has a resort casual atmoshere.

If you are ok with there not being a childrens' menu, and your daughter is reasonably well-behaved, you will have no problem and you will not receive any gruff from the staff.

Take her and have fun.

Thanks everyone for your help. Our ADR is at 6:15. I do not think that she would go to one of the kids clubs. She would be perfectly happy with it until she realized that mommy wasn't staying with her then she would be really upset.

She's out of a highchair and doesn't usually use a booster seat so that's not an issue. And she is well behaved. I also am not the type of person that would stay and let her ruin other people's dinner's either. If she got cranky or wild and I couldn't calm her in a quick reasonable amount of time, we would leave but we have never had to do that before.

We have also tried Yachtsman before and loved it, but DH saw the menu for this one and really has his heart set on it. I think we're just going to go with it.

I will keep in mind the fee for sharing and plan on that. Then if they don't charge it we'll just be pleasantly surprised.
